摘要： A belt shortening device intended for use with a vehicle seat belt securing a baby seat in a vehicle is constructed and arranged so that it is easily mounted to the existing seat belt without detaching the belt from its existing connection. The device includes a flat, rectangular housing having spaced slots extending across the top wall, and further includes first and second take up arms slidably mounted within the housing. The take up arms each consist of a body portion having inner and outer ends, and an elongated rack member having a first end pivotably mounted to the inner end of the body portion. The outer ends of the body portions of the take up arms include a transverse slot for receiving the seat belt therein. The take up arms are movable within the housing between an extended position wherein the outer ends of the take up arms extend outside of the housing through the slots, and a withdrawn position wherein the outer ends of the take up arms are withdrawn inside the housing. Movement of the rack members is controlled by a pinion gear mounted on a shaft that extends through the interior or the housing. An exterior end portion of the shaft has a handle to facilitate rotation of the shaft. A ratchet pawl engages the rack members within the housing for selectively locking the rack members in a fixed position.

摘要： An installation tool for stringing a tensioned wire between an anchor point and a retaining point, including a sleeve having a slidably mounted pin inside. A tip of the pin holds a loop end of the tensioned wire (such as a coronode in a corotron wire assembly), and protrudes from an end of the sleeve. When the tip holding the loop end of the tensioned wire is placed adjacent to a retaining pin, and the tip is retracted into the sleeve, the loop end of the wire slides onto the retaining pin, where it may rest in a securing notch. A spring may be used to bias the tip of the pin to retract or protrude from the end of the sleeve positioned adjacent to the retaining point. An end of the pin protruding from the sleeve end opposite the retaining point may be used independently or in cooperation with a biasing spring to move the tip of the pin into and out of the sleeve. The sleeve may include gripping areas and or finger loops to permit the user to accurately manipulate the tool. Delicate coronode wires in printers and copiers as well as other spanning wires can be readily installed or replaced using the wire installation tool of the present invention.

摘要： A pulling tool for gripping a cable or cables, especially fragile cables such as fiber optic cables. The pulling tool can pull such fragile cables with or without fragile connectors coupled to their free ends. The pulling tool has a mesh sleeve with an open tail end for receiving the ends of the cables, and a closed lead end with a ring or pulling member coupled thereto. The sleeve is constructed of a plurality of thin, flexible strands tightly interwoven together to form a longitudinally compressible and laterally expandable tube. The strands are tightly interwoven to prevent the cables or connectors from protruding outwardly from the sleeve. The sleeve is also highly flexible to permit the sleeve to be folded or rolled up.

摘要： The invention provides a method of twisting the conductors of one or more electrical wires, the method comprising:(a) assembling the conductors into a bundle;(b) inserting the bundle of conductors into a wire twister which comprises an elongate body having an axially extending cavity formed therein, the cavity being open at one end and having a substantially closed cross-section with four sides, at least one of the sides of the cavity being inclined to the axis of the body so that the cavity is tapered inwardly away from the open end, the ratio of the length of the longest side to the length of the shortest side at the axial position at which the conductors, when twisted to form a substantially circular array, contact two opposite sides of the cavity being from about 1.0 to about 3.0; and(c) imparting rotation to the wire twister relative to the conductors, while maintaining the conductors in contact with at least two of the sides of the cavity.

摘要： A tensioning assembly for applying tension to a band-type clamp includes a T-bolt having a shank portion and a T-head portion. The T-bolt is adjustably mounted to a first end of the band clamp and a keeper constructed and arranged to receive the T-head portion of the T-bolt is affixed to a second end of the band clamp. A nut threadably engages the shank portion of the T-bolt and rotation of the nut on the T-bolt draws the head to the T-bolt towards the first end of the band clamp thereby drawing with it the second end of the band clamp. An anti-rotation device is associated with the nut operably engageable with the nut to prevent its rotation. The anti-rotation device cooperates with a force-applying tool, such as a wrench, so that when the tool is placed on the nut, the anti-rotation device disengages from the nut. Preferably the tensioning assembly also includes an indicator remote from the T-bolt and operably associated with it to indicate the achievement by the T-bolt of a predetermined tension.
