The webbing guide is fixed to the retractor base for regulating a webbing moving path so that the webbing wound around the bobbin is drawn out from a prescribed position on said retractor base. The first and second positioning portions each has a protrusion portion provided with a plurality of protrusions abutting on the surface of said webbing and the surface of each protrusion abutting on said webbing forms a smooth bending face. The retractor provides a small change in the contact resistance between the webbing and the webbing guide positioning the webbing in a retractor base and can maintain smoothness of the draw-out and winding operations of the webbing, so that it is effective to improve the reliability of the draw-out and winding operations in the retractor and also general versatility of the retractor.

The tubular portions (154, 156) extend between spaced side walls (48, 50) of the frame (40). The tubular portions (154, 156) provide increased bending strength for the shaft (34).

An assembly for fastening a belt webbing (10) to a shaft (12) of a seat bealt retractor is provided. The shaft has a radial slot (18) through which one end of said belt webbing (10) is inserted. The belt webbing has a first section (101) for insertion in the slot (18) and a second section (102) for wrapping around a rod (14, 16) oriented transversly to the longitudinal direction of the belt webbing (F). An end section (103) of the webbing is located parallel to the first section (101), and the rod (14, 16) is arranged in an expanded first part (181) of the slot (18) merging in a narrower second part (182) of the slot (18). The first section (101) and the end section (103) of the belt webbing (10) are held in the narrow part (182) of the slot (18) by being squeezed in the direction of the belt webbing thickness.

The vehicle acceleration sensing means may shift from a first position to a second position when the vehicle acceleration has exceeded a predetermined value. The first transmission means is connectible to a take-up spindle along with the shift from the first position to the second position of the webbing draw acceleration sensing means and/or the vehicle acceleration sensing means and adapted to shift from a first position to a second position due to the webbing draw-out force. The lock means may prevent the draw-out of the webbing when the first transmission means has shifted to its second position.
