摘要： An automatically locking retractor comprising a housing, a spool disposed within the housing, and a belt connected to the spool. The belt is windable between a fully extended position, a fully retracted position, and a partially extended position. A spool-locking mechanism is engageable with the spool while the belt is moving between the partially extended position and the fully extended position. Indicia is mounted on the belt for alerting the user that the spool-locking mechanism is engageable, wherein the indicia is exposed outside of the housing when the spool-locking mechanism is engageable. The spool-locking mechanism may be actuated by a clutch ring that frictionally engages the spool. The clutch ring may be biased into frictional engagement with the spool by a wave spring, or may be held in frictional engagement with the spool by magnets.

摘要： A seat belt system (10) includes a retractor (18) with a spool (60), sections (26,28) of seat belt webbing (16) which define first and second shoulder belts (42,48), and a section (22) of seat belt webbing (16) which connects the shoulder belts (42,48) to the spool (60). The spool (60) is supported for unwinding rotation upon extraction of either of the shoulder belts (42,48), and for winding rotation upon retraction of either of the shoulder belts (42,48). A locking pawl (80) has a locking position blocking unwinding rotation of the spool (60). A cinch mechanism (100) moves the locking pawl (80) to the locking position in response to a predetermined amount of rotation of the spool (60). The predetermined amount of rotation includes a predetermined amount of unwinding rotation upon extraction of the first shoulder belt (42), a predetermined amount of winding rotation upon subsequent retraction of the first shoulder belt (42), and a predetermined amount of additional unwinding rotation upon extraction of the second shoulder belt (48) following retraction of the first shoulder belt (42).

摘要： An anti-cinch automatic locking retractor. A web spool is rotatably mounted between a pair of upstanding walls. The spool includes a pair of flanges each having a plurality of locking teeth with the teeth spaced apart by an included angle. A pawl is pivotally mounted to the walls and is lockingly engagable with the teeth. A cam plate mounted adjacent the spool and rotatable therewith includes a cam surface extending through an angle greater than the teeth included angle to limit cinching of the web spool as the spool rotates to and from the locking position and through the included angle. An additional slack reducing mechanism is mounted to the seat frame opposite from the side of the retractor and includes a pivot member for automatically aligning the attached locking device when not in use.

摘要： A seat belt retractor (10) includes a spool (70) which is rotatable about a first axis (52). An idler gear (270) is disposed in an opening (254) in a drive disc (240) which is rotatable about the first axis (52). The idler gear (270) rotates, in response to rotation of the spool (70), about a second axis (256) which is spaced from the first axis (52). As the idler gear (270) rotates about the second axis (256), it also orbits about the first axis (52) and causes the drive disc (240) to rotate about the first axis. The drive disc (240) moves a cinch lever (200) into a cinching position to block rotation of the spool (70) in a belt withdrawal direction (76) after a first predetermined amount of webbing (16) is withdrawn from the spool (70) and then a second predetermined amount of webbing is rewound on the spool.

摘要： An automatic locking retractor for a seat belt assembly, which comprises a housing having a shaft for webbing, a spring for urging the shaft in a predetermined direction to cause rewinding of the webbing, a rachet wheel integrally fixed to the shaft, a pawl for locking the rachet wheel in position, a diameter-sensing element capable of sensing the diameter of the webbing wound about the shaft, and a control member. The control member has a first leg on one end and a second leg on the other end and is fitted on the shaft to permit movement between a pair of stoppers and to permit frictional sliding when one of the stoppers is engaged and the shaft continues to rotate. The rachet wheel has teeth for engagement with the pawl and these teeth are arranged at an interval almost equal to the distance between the first and second leg of the control member. The first leg is positioned to be capable of assuredly engaging and guiding the pawl to one of the teeth of the rachet wheel to prevent rotation of the shaft in a direction to unwind the webbing.

摘要： An automatic take-up apparatus is used with the seat belt device of a vehicle and can cause a lock member to be engaged with a latch plate rotatable with a webbing take-up shaft to thereby automatically lock the draw-out of webbing. The lock member has its operation controlled by a control member mounted radially outwardly of the latch plate and brought into resilient contact with the latch plate, and is kept in a non-locking position during the draw-out of the webbing and is permitted to move to a locking position when some rewinding of the webbing has been sensed, thereby automatically blocking the draw-out of the webbing after mounted.

摘要： Disclosed herein is an automatic locking retractor suitable for use in a vehicle seat belt. The retractor does not produce any substantial unpleasant noise when the webbing is wound up, because the cog wheels and lock lever are kept separated while the webbing is wound up on the take-up spindle. The webbing is restrained from being pulled out when the once-pulled out webbing is slightly rewound and is then tried to pull it out again. The retractor features use of a disk, pawl and sensing means.

摘要： A locker retractor for seat belt harness and the like which includes an interposer element articulated by movement of the drum or reel to selectively block or release a spring biased pawl bar and holding the pawl bar away from locking a ratchet on one or both of the reel flanges or selectively freeing the pawl bar so that it may lock the ratchet in prevention of further drum rotation in the withdrawal direction. The shift from blocking to non-blocking position is achieved by a slight retraction of the webbing after initial free withdrawal, whereupon the interposer element falls free of its blocking relation. The interposer is a latch-like element pivotally and slidably connected to the frame and oriented and frictionally directed by a ring element turned by the moving of the drum. The interposer described is also useful in providing quiet free-pull and retraction in inertial retractors as described in copending application Ser. No. 258,576 filed on June 1, 1972 now U.S. Pat. No. 3,865,320.

摘要： A seat belt drum locking means operable responsive to unwind of the belt and rotation of the drum a predetermined number of revolutions. The mechanism for locking the drum includes an operating element which activates an electrical alarm signal at the same time it is moving toward the lock initiating position. Until the belt is unwound to a length permitting a locked condition, the alarm will be continued through an electrical contact carried by the operating element. A slide is provided for adjusting the switch contact length juxtaposed to the movable electrical contact whereby the duration of the alarm is made adjustable.
