摘要： A beverage container closure includes a cap and a monolithic cap liner having concentric first and second seal rings coupled to the cap. The concentric first and second seal rings are adapted to mate with an annular rim provided on the neck of a beverage container and formed to include an open mouth to allow liquids to flow through the neck into and out of the beverage container. At least one of the seal rings is splayed relative to the annular rim during installation of the cap on the container neck to form a seal between the cap and the beverage container.

The heat and pressure of compression forms the particles of barrier polymer into platelets that are oriented essentially parallel to the plane of the disk.

摘要： A separating closure liner comprises a laminate construction of a reusable liner portion and an inner seal portion, each separated by a light tack shearable adhesive. The light tack shearable adhesive enables the reusable liner portion to break away from the inner seal portion after it has been sealed to a container neck. The reusable liner portion remains in the closure of the container for sealing purposes. Use of the light tack shearable adhesive permits the use of polyolefin foamed materials as a reusable liner portion.

摘要： The tamper evident closure of the present invention includes a twist cap made of plastic that comprises a top portion and an interior sealing means which coacts with the rim of the container neck to provide a gas-tight seal. The top portion also has an annular depending skirt which includes an interior retaining means to coact with an exterior retaining means on the neck finish of the container. The exterior retaining means of the container has a positive stopping means to coact with interior retaining means of the cap so that when the cap is screwed onto the container neck the positive stopping means is engaged at a predetermined level of sealing force and capping torque. The depending skirt also includes locking means which lock the cap into place after the container is sealed. The locking means coacts with the positive stopping means on the container to prevent the cap from being unscrewed or twisted off the container after it has been screwed onto the container neck. The locking means are disengaged only after a tamper evident means is engaged to indicate that the container has been opened. The tamper evident means preferably comprises a hinged portion of the cap which must be lifted to open the container, thus providing an indication that the container has been opened or tampered with.

摘要： A sealing arrangement is provided having a container neck having a sloped land surface. The sloping land surface is configured to prevent the liner from slipping across the land surface when the cap is applied to the container. The cap has depending downwardly from its inner surface an annular bead positioned relative to the land surface such that, when the cap is applied to the container, the bead extends down into the mouth of the container radially inwardly of the land surface. The land surface, together with the bead, stabilize and stretch the liner upon application of the cap, urging the liner to conform to the land surface. At least one sealing rib depends downwardly from the lower surface of the cap to provide additional sealing force between the liner and the land surface.

摘要： A closure having an inner retaining area for receiving a closure liner. The liner circumferentially contacts the land surface of the container to cover the mouth of the container upon application of the closure to the container. A well, formed around the outer peripheral edge on the inside of the closure is dimensioned to receive the land surface of the closure. The well includes an upper surface having integrally depending flexible teeth. The walls of the well together with the teeth provide a directional force against the liner causing the liner to wrap around the land surface to increase the amount of liner to land surface contact and thereby counter the effects of irregularities on the land surface. The teeth also provide a localized compression force down against the liner to further increase the sealing contact between the liner and the land surface.

A concave surface extends from the base of the channel and merges with the surface of the annular portion. A compression molded liner is provided on the thickened portion, channel and concave surface of the closure and defines a planar sealing surface of contact with the end surface of the finish of a container and an arcuate surface for engaging the arcuate surface of a container. In other forms, the closure can be used as a closure for non-beverage products.

摘要： A cap liner and method for producing a cap liner which is particularly suited for use with a cap employed on a hot filled container. The liner includes a disc having one or more outer layers and an intermediate foamed layer bonded thereto. Preferably, the outer and intermediate layers are formed of homogenous admixtures of polypropylene and polyethylene. The method for producing the cap liner involves mechanically mixing at room temperature polypropylene and polyethylene to form a desired homogenous admixture for each layer, and then co-extruding the admixtures at approximately 320.degree.-390.degree. F. to form the bonded outer and intermediate layers. Alternatively, the intermediate layer may be formed of foamed polyethylene.
