Abstract:
An apparatus is provided that comprises a self-stacking spiral conveyor that traverses through a circulating atmosphere. The atmosphere is manipulated by one or more chambers having an open side adjacent to the perforated sides of the spiral conveyor. Additional control over the circulating atmosphere may be achieved by injection or ejection of gas into one or more chambers.
Abstract:
In an air treatment plant, an endless conveyor belt travels in a helical path over a part of its length. The conveyor belt comprises a bottom consisting of transverse rods and a wire netting, and side plates fixedly connected in pairs with two rods so as to form, together with these rods, a link, which is movable relative to adjoining links about two axes perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the belt and situated one in the plane of the bottom and the other perpendicular thereto. The wire netting consists of zig-zag wires, each of which encloses not only the two rods of one link but also one adjacent rod of the adjoining link. Furthermore, the ends of each wire are fixed to one of the two rods of the associated link.
Abstract:
A conveyor belt has a textured edge for use in a spiral conveyor which includes a plurality of protrusions on the edge of the belt engaging the capstan, providing enhanced friction between the belt and the capstan. The protrusions may be placed on end links or reenforcement links, and may be a part of rods connecting links of the belt. In one of the embodiments, the capstan is textured as well to provide an additional friction. As the result, the driving force is transmitted to the belt much more efficiently, and the practical use of the plastic conveyor belt in the spiral conveyor systems is possible. In one of the embodiments, the conveyor belt is made predominantly of plastic.
Abstract:
A spiral conveyor system utilizing an endless flat belt is disclosed. The belt travels in an endless path which includes a spiral portion. The belt is primarily driven in the spiral portion by a frictional engagement between the belt and a rotating driving element. The frictional engagement is enhanced by attaching friction increasing elements to the belt and driving element.
Abstract:
The injection-moulded links of an endless conveyor belt (4), especially designed for moving products through a treatment unit, comprise a number of flat link portions (8) with recesses (10) defined by pulling arms (9), said link portions (8) having slits (12) and said recesses (10) being adapted to receive link portions of an adjacent link so that a pivoting pin (7) passing through the pulling arms and the slits can connect both link portions. Preferably at least one semi-circular end wall of the slits of the uttermost link portions is at an angle that corresponds to the curvature radius of the drums of the conveyor wherein the conveyor belt is to be mounted.
Abstract:
A capstan for a spiral conveyor includes a plurality of grooves in the external surface thereof for controlling the driving friction between the outer surface of the capstan and the inner edge of a conveyor belt in contact with it. In one embodiment of the invention, the grooves are oriented vertically such that they contact the inner edge at an angle relative to motion therebetween. In another embodiment, the grooves are inclined to the vertical such that they contact the inner edge at right angles to the relative motion. In a further embodiment, the grooves are inclined generally parallel to the relative motion.
Abstract:
In an apparatus for conveying a product along a helical path, and well suited for the product to be dough, there is provided in combination, a chain and carrier plate means for being moved with the chain, a downward pin connected with the carrier plate means and having an axis disposed laterally of the chain outside the chain from an external side of the chain and the downwardly directed pin carrying an axially downwardly directed roller spaced laterally of the chain outside the chain from the aforementioned external side of the chain, and a support having thereon a facially laterally helical guide rail interposed between the axially downwardly directed roller and the axis of the helical path and laterally facially in contact with the axially downwardly directed roller for guiding the axially downwardly directed roller around the axis of the helical path during movement of the chain.
Abstract:
An endless conveyor having an endless flat link belt driven in two concentric helical paths by concentric rotary drums which engage the inner edges of the belt inwardly of the two helical paths to push the belt upwardly along one path crossing over at the top and downwardly along the other path. The belt links along the inner edge of the belt are collapsible to enable the belt to assume different curvatures while the links along the outer edge of the belt have a greater longitudinal dimension to accommodate the greater radius of curvature along the outer edge of the belt. Because the belt is driven along its inner edge and moves in a helical path, each link is pivoted about the inner edge in the forward direction of conveyance thus placing the outer edge of the belt under tension at all times during operation.
