    摘要: In a presser foot and a sewing machine according to the present invention, a guide hole is formed in a presser leg to which a fixed knife is attached, so as to passing through the presser leg up and down, and a knife holder is fitted and held to the guide hole. The fixed knife is inserted to a retention groove provided in a peripheral surface of the knife holder through a window hole provided in the presser leg, and is fixed by fastening a stop screw. A position of the fixed knife is adjusted in a vertical direction by moving the knife holder in the vertical direction along the guide hole and fastening the stop screw at an appropriate position, thereby changing a cut position of ends of fabrics and changing an overlapped width of the fabrics at a time of seaming.

    摘要: A grooved barrel cam is mounted on a needle bar drive shaft. As the last step, after stitching is completed and power is removed, an engaging arm inserts a follower pin into the cam. A knife cam follower lever drives a knife drive shaft and a knife driving lever. The knife driving lever drives a knife holder downward. A connector at a middle of the knife holder maintains the holder vertical. A knife is secured at the bottom of the knife holder. The cam and a tension spring angularly return the cam follower lever, the shaft and the knife lever and lift the holder, when the cut has been completed. A compression spring around the knife drive shaft moves the follower away from the cam once the engaging arm has released the follower. Engaging the knife cam follower and operating the knife driving mechanism on the last revolution after the clutch is released helps exhaust the kinetic energy of the sewing machine before bringing the machine to a stop.

    摘要: A cutting device for an automatic sewing machine, including a knife (2) and a knife guard (3) which projects the fingers of the operator. The knife (2) is capable of being lowered to a cutting area in a cutting plane (S) only when the knife guard (3) is in its protecting position. The knife (2) and knife guard (3) are driven simultaneosuly by a single drive, the knife guard (3) reaching the cutting plane (S) earlier than the knife (2). If the knife guard (3) cannot substantially reach its protective position, then the downward movement of the knife (2) is mechanically blocked, preventing further movement of the knife (2). This mechanical blocking is carried out by the coaction of a lever (20) which is connected to the knife guard (3) by a connecting member (21), the lever (20) being moveable in translation and rotation, and by a lever (19), which is moveable rotationally only and has a stop (37) thereon for blocking movement of the knife (2) when the knife guard (3) is not in its protective position. The stop (37) is responsive both to the drive (5) and to the degree to which the knife guard (3) has been lowered.

    摘要: A trimming pressure foot that can be interchangeably attached to a sewing machine includes one scissors blade fixedly attached to a pressure foot and one scissors blade pivotable about a shaft. The cutting motion is derived from the up-and-down motion of a needle drive rod. To this end, a pivot lever which is essentially in the shape of an inverted T is used. The pivot lever is pivotable about a shaft connected to the pressure foot, and its upwardly protruding arm rests with spring pressure on a needle securing screw. A flank of the arm resting on the screw forms an acute angle with the path of motion of the needle drive rod. In operation of the sewing machine, the up-and-down motion of the needle drive rod is converted into a pivoting motion of the pivot lever. The pivoting motion of the lever is transmitted onto the pivotable cutting blade by a tang secured to the pivot lever and by engaging the inside of a slit of the blade. The long needle drive rod stroke is thus elegantly and simply translated into a much shorter stroke of the trimming pressure foot.
