    摘要: A disc brake pad assembly includes a pair of locking bent portions formed at circumferential end portions of an inner shim plate by being bent towards an opposite side to a pressure plate. Locking through holes are formed individually at base end portions of the locking bent portions. A pair of locking projecting pieces are individually formed so as to project circumferentially from an outer main body portion included in an outer shim plate. A distance between distal edges of the locking projecting pieces is larger than a space between the locking bent portions, and a circumferential length defined between radial side portions of the locking projecting pieces is shorter than the space. The inner main body portion and the outer main body portion are superposed on each other in a state that the locking projecting pieces are brought into engagement with the locking through holes.

    摘要: A pressing part is provided at a disk-circumferentially central portion of a base plate member of a shim plate. The pressing part presses a friction pad at the center in the disk circumferential direction of the friction pad when a piston starts to press the friction pad. The pressing part is formed by slitting and raising the disk-circumferentially central portion of the shim plate along the disk radial direction. When the pressing force of the piston is in a low pressure range, the pressing force is transmitted to the friction pad through the pressing part. After the pressing force of the piston has exceeded the low pressure range, the pressing force is transmitted to the friction pad through the whole region in the disk circumferential direction of the piston.

    摘要: A disc brake pad assembly includes a pad and a shim plate. The shim plate includes locking pieces which are bent from a main body portion towards a pressure plate. The locking pieces are brought into abutment with circumferential edge portions of the pressure plate so as to be displaced in a rotating direction of a rotor. Projecting portions are formed at portions of the circumferential edge portion which are brought into abutment with one surface of each of the locking pieces. A circumferential central portion of a part of each of the projecting portions which faces the one surface projects further than both circumferential end portions thereof. The circumferential edge portion and the one surface of each of the locking pieces are spaced apart from each other at portions of the one surface which lie close to both circumferential end portions thereof.

The brake shim includes a first film formed from a viscoelastic material and disposed on the first and second surfaces, wherein the first film has a first elastic modulus, a primary surface spaced opposite the first surface, and a secondary surface spaced opposite the primary surface. The brake shim includes a second film formed from a polymer composition including a resin component having at least one epoxide functional group and a curing agent reactive with the resin component and having at least one amine functional group. The second film is disposed on the primary and secondary surfaces and has a second elastic modulus that is from about 10 times to about 1,000 times greater than the first elastic modulus. A method of forming the brake shim is also disclosed.

    摘要: The present invention is a noise-damping shim system for use with disc brakes to dampen vibrational noise, or brake squeal. The system includes an inner shim, or noise damper, for placement between the piston and inner brake pad backing plate, where the outer surface of the inner shim adjacent to the piston has a relatively low coefficient of friction, and an outer shim, for placement between the caliper housing and outer brake pad backing plate, where the outer surface of the outer shim has a relatively high coefficient of friction. The outer surface of the inner shim may have a coefficient of friction of between 0.05 and 0.4. The outer surface of the outer shim may have a coefficient of friction of between 0.5 and 1.0. The shims may be single layer or multi-layer and composed of metal and elastomeric material or fabric, optionally with coatings such as polytetrafluoroethylene.

    摘要: A shim structure is provided for damping vibration and attenuating noise in a brake system. The brake system includes a forcing member operable to urge a friction member against a rotating member to slow or stop the same. The shim structure includes a shim body that is adapted to be interposed within the brake system. The shim body includes one or more tabs that are configured to oscillate out-of-phase with vibrations generated by the brake system during urging of the friction member against the rotating member to thereby dissipate vibrational energy generated by the brake system. The dimensions, orientation, and/or location of each tab are selected or engineered to provide predetermined levels of vibration and noise attenuation. A mass may be attached to each tab. The geometry, location, and/or size of each mass may be selectively modified to provide predetermined levels of vibration and noise attenuation.
