摘要： An adjustable measuring and marking device is provided. The device has a lower portion with a bottom end and an upper end and an upper portion with a bottom end and an upper end. The upper portion telescopically interconnects with the lower portion. Measurement intervals, such as inches, are marked along the upper and lower sections so that one can use the device as a measuring apparatus. Measurements can be read at the upper end of the bottom portion, off the top portion, in inches, as well as in feet and inches. A friction fit exists between the upper and lower sections so that a measurement obtained by extending the upper section from the lower section so that the entire device is positioned between two points, can easily be transferred to another location, as the relative position of the upper and lower sections are maintained by the friction fit. Overextending the upper portion out of the lower portion is prevented by a locking pin device. A plurality of markers can be attached to the device, at desired locations therealong, for marking desired locations on a surface. Such markings are accomplished by placing the device at a desired location, and twisting one's wrist to move the plurality of marking devices against a surface to place marks thereon.

摘要： A pipe fitting method and apparatus for taking simultaneous linear and angular measurements is used for pipefitting. A first pipe joint fitting of a pipe fitting apparatus herein disclosed is attached to a first pipe joint, a second pipe joint fitting of the pipe fitting apparatus is attached to a second pipe joint, and the first pipe joint is attached to a first unconnected end of a first pipe-to-be-joined. Then, the pipe fitting apparatus is extended to an extended length thereof, while an angle measuring device of the pipe fitting apparatus simultaneously maintains an angular reading at a preselected joinder angle, until a top open end of the second pipe joint aligns with a second pipe-to-be-joined at an alignment line. Next, it is determined where to cut the second pipe-to-be-joined with reference to the alignment line. Finally, it is determined how long to cut a third connecting pipe with reference to the extended length of the pipe fitting apparatus.

摘要： The present invention comprises a measuring/positioning device. The invention herein is particularly designed for determining the elevation above a reference floor surface of an overhead object, such as pipe, conduit, duct work, structural steel and the like, the elevation of the center line of tubular objects, and the plumb position on the reference floor surface above which the center line of a tubular object lies. The present invention includes a sensing head that is pivotally secured to one end of an elongate measuring rod. The measuring rod has a measuring scale thereon and is slideably and telescopically engaged within a rigid elongate rectangular housing. The housing includes means for releasable securing the measuring rod at various positions there along, and includes read out points positioned thereon. A pair of level indicators are secured to the housing so that the measuring rod and housing can be positioned to extend through a true vertical line. The read out points are positioned along the housing and the measuring scale is arranged so that the readout means, the measuring scale and the sensing head cooperate to provide measurements of the distance relationship between the object and the reference surface when the object is in contact with the sensing head.
