摘要: An end closure for a cable is indicated, that in a core has at least two electrical cable wires for the transmission of electrical energy and having at least one optical transmission element and its core is surrounded by a reinforcement composed of metal wires. The metal wires of the reinforcement on the end of the cables are distanced a predetermined length and the end of the core of the cable is surrounded by a tension proof pipe that is connected tension proof with the remaining reinforcement. On the end of the electrical cable wires, to directly connect electrical couplings, the electrically suitable connection set is mounted, which at least partially protrudes out of the pipe. A connection unit, one equipped with a part of a plug connector, is mounted on the end of the optical transmission element, which also partially protrudes from the pipe, and that a pot shaped tension element mounted tension proof on the free end of the pipe surrounds moisture tight and pressure tight the part of the connection set and the connection unit that protrudes out of the pipe.

摘要: A circular fiber hoop for supporting one or more fiber optic cables, especially fiber optic cables for an optical sensor provided within a pressurized enclosure of a power generator. The fiber hoop is a single piece member including a center mandrel positioned between opposing side guards. The fiber optic cable is wound around the mandrel between the side guards. An end of the fiber optic cable including the sensor is optically coupled through a union connector to another optical fiber, where the union connector is mounted to one of the side guards so that it is separated from the wound mass of the fiber cables. The wound mass of the fiber cable on the mandrel is then enclosed in a suitable tape.

摘要: Micromodule cables include subunit, tether cables having both electrical conductors and optical fibers. The subunits can be stranded within the micromodule cable jacket so that the subunits can be accessed from the micromodule cable at various axial locations along the cable without using excessive force. Each subunit can include two electrical conductors so that more power can be provided to electrical devices connected to the subunit.

摘要: An optical fiber composite ground wire includes a core having channels, loose tubes, each tube containing at least one ribbon optical fiber, and disposed in a respective channel, and external tensile wires surrounding the core. Since the optical fibers collected in the tube are the same in length, tension and breakage due to differences in length between the optical fibers can be prevented. Also, since ribbon optical fibers each having 2 to 8 cores are gathered in the loose tube, more than 12 cores can be assembled in the tube without special equipment. A UV-curable resin coating the outer surface of the ribbon optical fiber prevents water from permeating into the optical fibers and affecting optical characteristics.

摘要: An optical cable for use in an overhead optical transmission system in which the cable is supported along the route of the system by means of towers, masts or other upstanding supports that are also employed to support electrical power cables, includes one or more optical fibers and an electrically insulating jacket (8). The cable includes an array of elongate conductive elements (10, 12) each of which extends along a portion of the cable, adjacent conductive elements axially overlapping each other with overlapping portions circumferentially spaced apart to form a composite conductive path that extends along the cable and is interrupted when the cable is dry. Adjacent conductive elements (10, 12) are resistively coupled to each other when the surface of the cable is wet to form a continuous electrically conductive path along the cable. Such a form of cable has the advantage that the dry-band arcing under wet conditions is reduced by disrupting the geometry that allows such bands to form.
