Abstract:
An image processing device for processing an image read by an image scanner or similar image reading device is disclosed. The image processing device is capable of accurately detecting, without resorting to a range finding sensor or similar special sensing means, the bound portion of a spread book by recognizing the configuration of the bound portion out of a read image, and thereby accurately correcting the distortion of the portion of the image representative of the bound portion.
Abstract:
An exposure apparatus emits a number of laser beams to the predetermined positions on a single photosensitive drum. Galvano-mirrors are employed for controlling the distances between the laser beams in the main scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction. The angles of the mirrors of the galvano-mirrors are adjusted in such a manner as to eliminate the adverse effects caused by a drift, such as variations in the viscosity of the dampening agent of a mirror driving mechanism and variations in the magnetic force generated by a magnetic circuit. Without such adverse effects, the laser beams can be guided accurately to the predetermined positions on the photosensitive drum. The angles of the mirrors are monitored by checking whether the laser beams are incident on the predetermined positions on the detection areas of a beam position sensor.
Abstract:
There is proposed a method and apparatus for multibeam scanning an inner face of a cylindrical drum, in which scanning lines are straightened under a simple control, and an interval between the scanning lines can be easily changed, thereby simplifying a constitution. In an embodiment, while keeping an interval between two light beams projected to an optical scanning system, the light beams are one-dimensionally deflected in mutually orthogonal directions in synchronism with a rotation of the spinner, respectively. In a second embodiment, one light beam is projected along a central axis common with the spinner and the cylindrical drum to the spinner. The other light beams are inclined in a plane including the central axis by a constant angle nully separately predetermined for each of the other light beams, and further inclined in a direction orthogonal to the plane including a rotation axis by an angle nullx which is determined in synchronism with a rotation angle null of the spinner.
Abstract:
An object of the invention is to reproduce a faithful image irrespective of thermal expansion of a light-scanning unit and to reproduce a faithful image without enhancing the strength of the light-scanning unit excessively. A pair of supporting portions of a light-scanning unit, each having a flat face, are supported in linear contact with a right column-shaped supporting member provided with the apparatus body. The light-scanning unit is provided on the supporting member near to a starting position where writing image data on a photosensitive body with a scanning line is started in a main scanning direction so as not to be mutually displaced relative to the supporting member. Thereby, the light-scanning unit is allowed to extend in the longitudinal direction of the supporting member due to thermal expansion of the light-scanning unit. Also, an elongated supporting member made of stainless steel penetrates a base body of a light-scanning unit made of synthetic resin which scans in scanning line of laser light on the photosensitive body to exposure, to support the light-scanning unit. The center of gravity of the light-scanning unit is positioned near to the supporting member and vertically below the supporting member, to make the moment acting on the light-scanning unit small and hold the light-scanning unit in a stable state. The supporting member suppresses deformation of the base body due to thermal expansion.
Abstract:
An exposure device includes a first light emitting element substrate including a plurality of first light emitting elements arranged at an arrangement interval T in a longitudinal direction, and a second light emitting element substrate including a part in the longitudinal direction that overlaps with a part of the first light receiving element substrate so as to form an overlapping region. The first and second light emitting element substrates are shifted from each other in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The second light emitting element substrate includes a plurality of second light emitting elements arranged in the longitudinal direction. The second light emitting elements are arranged at the arrangement interval T at least outside the overlapping region. When an interval between two of the second light emitting elements of the second light emitting element substrate disposed in the overlapping region is expressed as a specified interval TS, the specified interval TS and the arrangement interval T satisfy: T≦TS≦2T.
Abstract:
An optical scanning device includes a light source, an optical system, and a housing. The light source projects a light beam. The housing includes a holder and encloses the optical system. The optical system includes a liquid crystal element held by the housing via the holder, to modulate a phase of the light beam projected from the light source against a scanned surface. The liquid crystal element includes a plurality of substantially transparent substrates, a liquid crystal layer, and a sealing member. One of the plurality of the transparent substrates has a size larger than any other transparent substrates and is positioned in the holder. The liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between the plurality of substantially transparent substrates. The sealing member seals the liquid crystal layer between the plurality of substantially transparent substrates.
Abstract:
An image reading apparatus includes a carriage having mounted thereon a linear light source and an image sensor and a reference pattern member disposed at a reference position located toward the first direction from a home position. The current location of the carriage is judged relatively to first and second areas that are divided by a boundary defined in advance at a location toward the first direction from the reference position. The first area is located toward the first direction and the second area is located toward the second direction. Immediately after the power is turned ON, current location information indicating whether the carriage is currently located in the first area or the second area is read from the nonvolatile memory. The carriage is first moved to the reference position and then moved a predetermined distance in the second direction, so that the carriage is duly positioned at the home position.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to an image reading device, including: a light emitting portion; a light guiding member; a holding member that holds the light emitting portion and the light guiding member; and a case member that holds the holding member. In the image reading device, the light guiding member is shaped like a stick, of which end portion is disposed to face the light emitting portion. The holding member holds the light emitting portion and the light guiding member. In addition, the holding member has: and a holding portion that disposes the light guiding member along a main scanning direction, and positions and holds an end portion on the light emitting portion side in the main scanning direction. The case member holds the holding member.
Abstract:
In an image reader that can adjust a distance between a platen glass and a close-contact-type image sensor (CIS) without disassembly, a CIS unit includes a CIS and a resilient body which biases the CIS toward the platen glass. A CIS roller holder includes a spacer, and a CIS holder which holds the spacer movably in the vertical direction as well as in the sub scanning direction with respect to the platen glass and is fixed to the CIS unit. Irregularities are formed on surfaces of the CIS holder and the spacer which face each other and are engageable by fitting. When the CIS unit is moved in the sub scanning direction and the CIS roller holder is brought into contact with one rib ,the CIS roller holder is brought into contact with the spacer at projections or recesses, thus changing a distance between the platen glass and the CIS.
