    Abstract: A method for mitigating motion blur in a visual-inertial tracking system is described. In one aspect, the method includes accessing a first image generated by an optical sensor of the visual tracking system, accessing a second image generated by the optical sensor of the visual tracking system, the second image following the first image, determining a first motion blur level of the first image, determining a second motion blur level of the second image, identifying a scale change between the first image and the second image, determining a first optimal scale level for the first image based on the first motion blur level and the scale change, and determining a second optimal scale level for the second image based on the second motion blur level and the scale change.

    Abstract: An image pickup apparatus includes an image sensor configured to acquire an image, an image-stabilization mechanism configured to reduce blur, a shutter apparatus including a front blade group and a rear blade group, and a control unit configured to provide control on image stabilization. The image sensor has a first mode for acquiring the image based on light passing through an area formed by the front blade group and the rear blade group, and a second mode for acquiring the image based on light passing through an area between an electronic front curtain of the image sensor and the rear blade group. In the first mode, the control unit provides the control on the image stabilization. In the second mode, the control unit determines whether or not to provide the control on the image stabilization, based on a shutter speed of the shutter apparatus.

    Abstract: Images with an optical field of view are captured by an image capture device. An observed trajectory of the image capture device reflects the positions of the image capture device at different moments may be determined. A capture trajectory of the image capture device reflects virtual positions of the image capture device from which video content may be generated. The capture trajectory is determined based on a subsequent portion of the observed trajectory such that a portion of the capture trajectory corresponding to a portion of the observed trajectory is determined based on a subsequent portion of the observed trajectory. Orientations of punch-outs for the images are determined based on the capture trajectory. Video content is generated based on visual content of the images within the punch-outs.
