摘要:
There is described an apparatus for finishing a steel edge (14) of a ski (15) by means of a pot-shaped grinding wheel (1) driven by a motor (2) with an axis of rotation extending transverse to the feed direction (8). To create advantageous constructional conditions it is proposed that the grinding wheel (1) with the motor (2) should be mounted in a frame (7) of a setting means so as to be freely rotatable about a swing axis (a) limited by a stop, which swing axis extends transverse to the feed direction (8) and vertical to the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel (1), and that for setting the grinding wheel (1) against the steel edge (14) the setting means can be swivelled in the direction of the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel (1) about a swivel axis (b) parallel to the feed direction (8) between two working positions on the one hand for the machining surface of the steel edge (14) on the side of the running surface and on the other hand for the outer machining surface of the steel edge (14).

A tubular blank for producing golf club shafts comprises a butt section having a uniform cross-sectional configuration along its length, a tip section also having a uniform cross-sectional configuration along its length, and a tapered section interconnecting the butt and tip sections. Metallurgically formed rifling on the interior surface of the blank extends throughout the entirety of the butt, tip and tapered sections. The golf club shafts produced from these blanks have increased strength and stiffness which is a direct result of the interior rifling. A set of golf club shafts preferably is produced from a group of these tubular blanks with each blank of the group having the same length and the same natural frequency. Predetermined portions are then selectively removed from the tip and butt sections. The ultimately produced golf club shafts are frequency matched along a predetermined gradient and each shaft of the set has a predetermined stiffness distribution along its length directly related to the stiffness distribution of the other shafts of the set.

A tapered wall shaft with a reinforced tip includes a rear portion, a front portion and an interconnecting portion. The interconnecting portion has a smoothly decreasing outer diameter and a smoothly increasing wall thickness. The tapered wall shaft with a reinforced tip is formed by a rotary swaging operation, a sink drawing operation and a rotary swaging operation.

An improved ski edge sharpening device is shown which features a body portion having first and second recesses. The first recess is adapted to retain a file at a predetermined angle to a bottom surface of the tool adapted to slide against the bottom surface of the ski, and the second recess holds a magnet of substantially the same length as the file for attracting and retaining ferrous filings generated during sharpening the ski, such that the fillings do not interfere with the filing operation and do not abrade the delicate bottom surface of the ski.

A ski sharpener for simultaneously honing the vertical and horizontal surfaces of a ski edge which comprises a base member having a base portion and a connected side portion disposed at right angles to provide a support or base against which a plurality of file sections are longitudinally and vertically spaced to provide an intermittent filing surface in two planes disposed normal to one another whereby the intermittent filing surfaces are arranged to simultaneously engage the vertical and horizontal surfaces of a ski edge in a honing operation. In one form of the device the ski sharpener is provided with one set of intermittent filing surfaces, and in another form the ski sharpener is provided with a plurality of sets of intermediate filing surfaces whereby the degree of coarseness of each set varies.

A hand held pocket size ski repair and maintenance tool is manipulated for reconditioning steps undertaken to refurbish the running surfaces and edges of snow skis. The various working portions of the tool are arranged in a two piece hollow body. The upper hollow piece has a cavity and the lower piece has a central rib having its own central cavity and creating two cavities. Two polishing corks are mounted in the cavity of the upper hollow piece and spaced apart to leave a space between them to accommodate the central rib of the lower hollow piece. Two abrasive stones, for deburring ski edges and removing scratches are respectively mounted adjacent the two corks in the cavity of the upper hollow piece. A file to rework the vertical and horizontal surfaces of ski edges is fitted to the central rib of the lower piece. An outside edge, located generally on the lower piece, is used in scraping operations. An outside square corner, generally on the upper piece, is included for scraping operations. Another outside corner on the upper piece is rounded and used in scraping of half-round grooves.

A method of manufacturing a golf club head with a plurality of stiffening members proximate the face, and particularly solid rods or a plate with one or more cutouts, is disclosed herein. The method includes the steps of preparing a wax of a golf club head body having at least one through-hole, a hollow interior, and at least one receiving pocket, preparing waxes of one or more stiffening members, inserting the wax of the stiffening members into the through-hole and seating its opposite end in the receiving pocket, bonding each of the stiffening members to the body with an adhesive material to form a combined wax mold, and casting a golf club head from the combined wax mold.

Methods of forging a golf club head is disclosed. Exemplary embodiment may include providing a raw forging blank, hot pre-forging said raw forging blank to create a golf club head without scorelines, cold pre-forging said golf club head to create a rough scoreline pattern, polishing a face of said golf club head to remove an excess material after said cold pre-forging step, and final forging said golf club head to create a final scoreline pattern.

A co-forged iron type golf club is disclosed. More specifically, the present invention discloses a co-forged iron type golf club with the body portion made out of a first material and at least one weight adjustment portion monolithically encased within the body portion of the co-forged iron type golf club head without the need for secondary attachment or machining operations. The present invention also includes a combination of lightweight and heavy density weight adjustment portions that could be introduced towards the final forging step of the co-forging process, allowing for more flexibility in the selection of materials.
