    摘要: A swaging tool for applying an assembly force on a fluid connector includes a tool main body, a first fluid connector holding section attached to the main body, a second fluid connector holding section attached to a piston, and a sensing system to determine when the fluid connector is in the proper position for assembly. The assembly tool applies an assembly force on the fluid connector when the fluid connector is in the proper position for assembly. In a preferred embodiment, the sensing system includes a fluid passage formed in the main body leading to a fluid port where the fluid port is positioned to be covered by the fluid connector when the fluid connector is in the proper position for assembly. The swaging tool applies an assembly force on the fluid connector when the fluid port is substantially covered by the fluid connector.

    摘要: A method of repairing a defect in a casting or cast article, where the defect comprises at least one of a manufacturing, intentional, or service-related defect. The cast article can comprise a casting core and a casting, the casting core comprising a bumper that creates a thin region, namely the defect. One method of repairing the bumper hole defect comprises locating the defect area in the cast article; removing an area of the casting at the defect area; removing an area of the casting core including the bumper at the defect area, where the removing the area of the casting at the defect area and removing an area of the casting core including the bumper at the defect area create a hole; positioning repair material in the hole; heating the defect area, the repair material and the area of the casting at the defect area to melt the repair material and area of the casting at the defect area into a molten material; and re-solidifying the molten material to form a repaired casting. Also, the method without forming the hole can be applied to repair surface defects. The invention also is directed to the repaired article formed by the methods.

    摘要: A fixture for pre-loading a pivot assembly has a stationary base and a tool that is axially movable relative to the base. The tool has a platen with a pre-load mass and a cylindrical enclosure. A sphere is suspended within the enclosure but is free to roll and move laterally along three degrees of freedom. The pivot assembly has an external sleeve with a coaxial shaft mounted on bearings. Each ball bearing has an inner ring, an outer ring, and balls in between. The rings are adhesively bonded to the shaft and sleeve. The pivot is placed on the base of the fixture and the tool is lowered. The sphere is free to nullfloatnull within the enclosure until it makes contact with the inner ring of the upper bearing in the pivot. Upon contact, the compliant, rolling sphere automatically self-aligns with the pivot. The pre-load mass applies the desired force against the pivot until the adhesive cures. The sphere ensures that the pre-load force is uniform around the ball compliment circumference of the bearings such that the inner and outer rings of the bearings float and their raceways self-align under the pre-load force. After the adhesive cures, the pivots have negligible torque ripple and consistent dynamic response.

    摘要: The invention provides an apparatus and methods for applying a material to a cable or into a conduit. The apparatus includes a hinged housing for coupling to a portion of a cable and/or a conduit. The apparatus is configured as a portable housing that is particularly suited for use in the field to apply a material to an existing underground cable or conduit or to a new or relocated cable or conduit during installation. The hinged housing permits the apparatus to couple to a portion of a cable or a portion of a conduit without splicing the cable or the conduit or removing the cable. When coupled to a cable or a conduit, the housing defines a chamber into which a material is inserted. Compressed air is supplied to the chamber to force the material into an innerduct of the conduit and to pull the material therethrough, applying the material to the cable and/or the conduit. Various materials can be applied to occupied and unoccupied conduit using the apparatus including a detectable tape, a service or tracer wire, a cable or a narrow-diameter cable duct sized for insertion into a conduit.

    摘要: A tool for more quickly and efficiently removing the liner bolts that hold sections of liners to the inside of an ore grinding mill shell. The tool has thick-walled tubular barrel with a front cap assembly and a rear valve assembly at opposing ends. A projectile is slidably disposed in the barrel chamber. The rear valve assembly connects to a supply of compressed air to deliver compressed air to the chamber and cause the projectile to move rapidly forward toward the front end cap assembly and contact an impactor, which is in contact with the liner bolt to be removed. The forward movement of the projectile causes the impactor to move forward and drive the bolt out of the shell and liner. The tool has little recoil effect and utilizes a safety absorber to reduce the likelihood of damage or injury from use of the tool.

This invention is a simple, non-impact type bearing cup insertion tool utilizing a rod and specialized insertion elements. The insertion elements work along the rod to controllably force the bearing cups into the wheel hub safely without impacting the bearing cups.

The tool assembly is comprised of a brace member, a pair of elongated threaded bars with handles, and a cooperating pair of plate members.
