Abstract:
In a preferred embodiment, an apparatus for detecting the presence of, and providing for the release of, a person in a vehicle trunk compartment, including: a presence detector system to detect motion in the vehicle trunk compartment; and upon detection of motion in the vehicle trunk compartment, the presence detector system causes the activation of one or more functions selected from the group consisting of: a vehicle operator alert, vehicle headlights, a vehicle horn, a vehicle alarm, a self-contained alarm, a trunk lid release and, a trunk light.
Abstract:
The invention proposes a security system for a motor vehicle opening leaf, a handle of which comprises an external lever articulated to a handle support arranged on the inside of a bodywork panel, of the type in which the security system includes means for remotely detecting, by means of an electromagnetic signal, the presence of a user's hand near the handle, the detection means being arranged in a casing which is fixed by elastic snap-fastening on the outside of the handle support.
Abstract:
An antitheft system for a motor vehicle includes an interior monitoring device and a transceiver unit which are intended to detect the presence of a person or of a key in the interior of the motor vehicle and which are activated as soon as a door is closed. If a person is not detected in the interior, the doors are automatically locked without the user having to undertake particular measures for that purpose.
Abstract:
A vehicle security system includes a controller being switchable to a valet mode based upon determining a plurality of successive activations of a valet switch with each activation comprising at least one operation of the valet switch, and based upon determining at least one change in ignition switch position between successive activations of the valet switch. The security system also preferably includes at least one vehicle sensor, an ignition monitor for determining whether a vehicle ignition switch is in an off position or an on position, an alarm indicator for indicating an alarm, and all of which are preferably connected to the controller. The controller may be switchable to an armed mode in which the controller is capable of generating an alarm responsive to triggering of the at least one vehicle sensor. The controller when in the valet mode prevents generation of an alarm responsive to triggering of the at least one vehicle sensor. The controller may be switchable to the valet mode based upon determining the ignition switch being in the on position during each activation of the valet switch. In addition, the at least one change in ignition switch position may comprise a change to the off position. A pseudorandomly coded remote transmitter may be used to switch the controller between armed and disarmed modes.
Abstract:
A vehicular alarm system is provided including at least one vehicle sensor adapted for generating an activation signal upon the detection of the infiltration of a vehicle. Also included is a control unit positioned within the vehicle. The control unit is connected to the sensor and is adapted for transmitting an alarm signal via free space upon the receipt of the activation signal from sensor. Next provided is a portable remote unit having an indicator mounted thereon for generating an indication upon the actuation thereof. The remote unit serves to actuate the indicator upon the receipt of the alarm signal via free space from the control unit.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved vehicle entry transmitter that can be used as a transmitter to lock and unlock vehicle doors, turn an alarm on and off, and/or disable and enable the vehicle. The present invention provides a vehicle entry transmitter that uses a contact switch/probe tip combination (referred to a “switch tip” in this application). When the switch tip is pressed against a vehicle the switch is activated and the vehicle entry transmitter sends a control signal through the switch tip and into the vehicle, where it can be picked up by a receiver. The receiver can then lock/unlock vehicle doors, turn an alarm on/off, and/or disable/enable the vehicle. In the preferred embodiment, the switch tip comprises a conformable and conductive material. When the switch tip is pressed against a vehicle, the conformable and conductive material deforms until the contact switch is activated, causing a control signal to be propagated through the conformable and conductive tip and into the vehicle.
Abstract:
A method, computer program product, and system for alerting authorities during a car theft. A personal identification number, either a normal code or a duress code, is received into an vehicle security system. If the duress code has been entered, then the security system is disarmed, wherein the vehicle may be entered and driven away without any indication of an alarm. However, the duress code triggers a process by which authorities are notified and the location of the vehicle may be provided. The vehicle is disabled upon a certain event or condition, such as a pre-determined amount of time passing or a pre-determined distance driven. The method may also require satisfying a second event or condition before disabling the vehicle, such as the vehicle traveling at a low speed, in order to avoid causing an unsafe condition. The duress code preferably has an identical number of alphanumeric characters as a normal personal identification number entered to disarm the security system.
Abstract:
A security system for a motor vehicle is described. The security system has at least one sensor for sensing a status variable of the motor vehicle, a security device for disabling or enabling use of the motor vehicle, and a control unit, connected at the input end to the sensor and at the output end to the security device. The control unit disables activation of the security device as a function of the status variable, in order to prevent incorrect operation. The control unit has a logic circuit that not only blocks the security device preventing activation, as a function of the status variable, but also activates the security device as a function of the status variable, independently of a user intervention.
Abstract:
An arrangement for theft protection of a motor vehicle accessory, in particular of a car radio, having a codable theft protection device. An enclosing device that can be activated or deactivated via an immobilizer of a control system of a drive mechanism of a motor vehicle is provided.
Abstract:
The emergency operating device for releasing a trunk lock mechanism of a motor vehicle, in which a human, especially a small child, or an animal could be locked, includes a sensor device in the trunk and an evaluation device connected to the sensor device. The sensor device generates and transmits sensor signals that indicate whether or not the human or animal is present in the trunk. The evaluation device receives and evaluates or analyzes the sensor signals to ascertain whether or not the human or animal is present in the trunk. The evaluation device generates an operating signal for automatic activation of the release mechanism if the human or animal is present in the trunk.
