    摘要： A bag making machine for making bags from a sealable film is disclosed wherein the film is fed over a forming shoulder and around a forming tube. Sealer jaws form a transverse seal to provide a top for one bag and the bottom of the next adjacent bag, and move with the film as it is advanced intermittently along the tube. Separate and independent means are provided to advance the film simultaneously with movement of the sealer jaws, and means are also provided for forming a substantially flat bottom on each bag including a novel arrangement of folding plates for the bottom, tuckers for forming gussets, and creasers for forming creases in the film at the corners of each bag.

    摘要： A plastic bag comprises a tubular plastic sheet member having front and rear walls. The upper and lower edges of the front and rear walls are heat sealed in a straight line across the width thereof so as to enclose the sheet member to form a sealed container. A reinforcing seal commences at one of the lateral edges of the container at a point below the straight line seal of the upper edge and continues laterally partially across the width of the front and rear walls and thence upwardly to join the straight line seal at a point spaced laterally inwardly from the other of the lateral edges. A method of the present invention comprises forming a plurality of spaced apart straight line seals across the width of an elongated continuous plastic tube member, forming a reinforcing seal such as described above adjacent each of the straight line seals, placing a grommet in the tube members in the space between the reinforcing seal and the upper straight line seal, and severing the tube member transversely into a plurality of containers with the straight line seals forming the upper sealed edges of each of the containers.

    摘要： A method of and apparatus for packaging a food product wherein a slurry of the food product and a brine solution is used to facilitate the advance of the food product. The slurry is collected in a vessel from which a portion of the food product is removed under pressure and delivered to a bag or pouch-forming apparatus. The brine solution is removed from the food product while it is being delivered to the pouch-forming apparatus but is reunited with a brine solution in the pouch-forming apparatus. The latter also includes means for preventing the food product from being entrapped in the seal area of the pouch which would prevent a satisfactory seal from being formed.
