    摘要: A control system for a two-shaft regenerative gas turbine has a low emission burner with a pedal operated throttle for proportioning the flow of primary and secondary air into a combustion chamber of the low emission burner and includes means for controlling fuel flow to maintain the outlet temperature of the burner in a range of temperatures to cover the power and speed range of the turbine engine. Secondary air is modulated to temper the turbine inlet temperature for a particular power level and speed of operation of the engine. The controller regulates the fuel supply at the burner in accordance with primary air flow by means for sensing the mass air flow to the engine compressor and means for automatically adjusting the fuel flow in correct proportion to the primary air flow to the burner so that the temperature of the primary combustion zone will be held at a desired level without adjusting the burner variable geometry or without sensing primary combustion zone temperature. An improved thermostat multiplier mechanism adjusts a fuel orifice to compensate for inlet air temperature to the burner.

    摘要: A fuel supply system for a gas turbine engine such as a gascoupled vehicle driving engine includes a pump driven by the engine, a resistance valve between the pump outlet and the engine combustion chamber fuel nozzle, and a by-pass from the pump outlet to the pump inlet flowing through a by-pass valve and a resistance valve in series. The fuel nozzle provides a fuel metering orifice. The by-pass valve is biased to open by fuel pump discharge pressure and is biased to close by a pressure derived from the engine compressor discharge pressure. Compressor discharge pressure is fed through an orifice into a chamber to bias a diaphragm which operates to close the valve. Compensation for ambient temperature and pressure are provided by suitably controlled bleeds from this chamber. Limitation of metered fuel pressure for acceleration is accomplished by the compressor discharge pressure as so modified, and steady state fuel pressure is limited by a relief valve from the chamber the pressure setting of which is varied by manual control. The resistance valve in the engine fuel line establishes a suitable bias tending to open the by-pass valve to accommodate its characteristics to those of the engine, and a resistance valve in the by-pass line which has a higher setting enforces flow of fuel to the engine during starting.

    摘要: A fuel control disclosed in connection with a gas-coupled gas tubine engine for shaft power output purposes. The fuel control is supplied by a transfer pump and a pressure pump in series and delivers fuel to a nozzle in the engine combustion apparatus. The control receives an input of gas generator speed and an input of compressor discharge pressure. It receives electrical inputs serving to limit turbine inlet temperature and power turbine speed, and may include an electrical On-Off input. Flow of fuel to the engine is directly controlled by a slave valve which responds to pressure of fuel delivered to the nozzle and to a control pressure derived from the pressure pump outlet. The control pressure is developed between an upstream orifice and parallel downstream valves which include a solenoid valve operated to limit turbine inlet temperature and power turbine speed, a valve responsive to compressor discharge pressure, and a governor valve responsive to gas generator turbine speed. The OnOff control bleeds the nozzle to the fuel tank when the engine is turned off. During engine deceleration, the slave valve stops fuel flow without emptying the nozzle and the fuel line to it. The metering head across the slave valve is controlled by a differential pressure responsive by-pass valve which discharges excess fuel to the pressure pump inlet. The by-pass valve may define a passage for fuel to maintain a pilot flame during deceleration.

    摘要: A system for controlling the fuel supply to a gas turbine engine includes a valve between the fuel pump and the burners of the engine and arranged to spill fuel delivered by the pump. Fuel flows to the burners via a venturi and the spill valve is urged in a direction to spill fuel by the pressure upstream of the venturi and in the other direction by a spring-assisted piston subjected to the pressure at the venturi throat. Cooperating with the spring-assisted piston is a lever actuated by a diaphragm forming one wall of a chamber which is subjected to an air pressure signal derived from the output of the engine compressor and modified by a blade movable in a kinetic orifice. The blade is movable by a governor mechanism and a linkage coupled to the engine throttle control, so that the blade is moved to reduce the pressure in the chamber when the desired engine speed is greater than the actual speed, and thereby move the lever so that the spill valve may operate to increase spillage of fuel. The valve is similarly operated to reduce spillage when the desired speed is greater than the actual speed. An opposite wall of the chamber is formed by a smaller diaphragm biased towards the first diaphragm by a spring. Stops on the respective diaphragms maintain them in spaced relationship. These stops separate at a predetermined pressure to ensure that a sufficient margin for acceleration exists at all engine speeds.
