Abstract: An application layer in a device, a service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) layer in the device, and/or a media access control (MAC) layer in the device may determine that wireless communication resources allocated to the device need to be adjusted. The determination may be in response to detecting that a quality of the wireless connection of the device has deteriorated, or it may be based on advance knowledge of information pertaining to an application layer payload in the device. In response to the determination the device may transmit, in a MAC Control Element (MAC CE) to a base station, a request for an adjustment of the allocated wireless communication resources. The adjustment may lead to a temporary boost of resources for a limited period of time or to a persistent update of the allocated wireless communication resources. To allow better scheduling of multiple QoS flows mapped to the same DRB and better selection of data when constructing a MAC Packet Data Unit (PDU), a mapping between QoS flows and LCHs may also be provided to the MAC layer.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to performing beam failure recovery using a contention based random access procedure in a cellular communication system. A wireless device and a cellular base station may establish a cellular link. Beam configuration information indicating an active beam for downlink communications may be provided. The wireless device may detect beam failure for the active beam. The wireless device may perform a contention based random access procedure based at least in part on detecting beam failure for the active beam. An indication of the detected beam failure may be provided to the cellular base station by the wireless device as part of the contention based random access procedure.

Abstract: Techniques discussed herein can facilitate configuration of a User Equipment (UE) with two or more Discontinuous Reception (DRX) configurations. A first set of techniques can facilitate configuration of the UE with independent DRX configurations for Frequency Range 1 (FR1) and for Frequency Range 2 (FR2). A second set of techniques can facilitate configuration of the UE with independent DRX configurations for a first set of one or more Component Carriers (CCs) associated with a first frequency band of a supported band combination and for a second set of one or more CCs associated with a second frequency band of the supported band combination. Various embodiments can employ techniques of one or more of the first set of techniques or the second set of techniques.

Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Service (MBMS) Transmission and Reception in Connected State during Wireless Communications

Abstract: User equipment devices (UEs) may receive multimedia broadcast and multicast service (MBMS) transmissions over a bandwidth part (BWP) specifically allocated for MBMS point-to-multipoint (PTM) transmissions, or over MBMS-specific resources configured for PTM transmissions within a UE-dedicated BWP. The network (e.g. base station) may configure the MBMS-specific BWP for the UE for the PTM transmissions per serving cell. The MBMS-specific BWP may be used for downlink transmissions, and may be cell specific or UE specific per serving cell. The base station may provide MBMS PTM scheduling information per BWP to the UE, may indicate whether a UE-dedicated BWP may be used for PTM scheduling and transmission, and may provide the corresponding scheduling configuration when applicable. The UE may communicate its various capabilities related to MBMS reception and simultaneous reception of PTM and point-to-point (PTP) transmissions to the base station to aid the base station in scheduling communications of the UE.
