    Abstract: Wireless communication techniques that include beam training performed to aid mobile devices in identifying beams for use in communications (e.g., uplink communications) are discussed. A mobile device may transmit to a base station an indication of a level of beamforming reciprocity of the mobile device. A base station/gNB may transmit an indication of one or more transmission beams to be used by the mobile device for uplink wireless communication based on the level of beamforming reciprocity. The one or more transmission beams to be used by the mobile device for uplink communication may include a reciprocal transmission beam. A mobile device not capable of full beamforming reciprocity may determine a transmission beam through uplink beam training. A mobile device may transmit to a base station information using at least one of the one or more transmission beams. Other aspects and features are also claimed and discussed.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for resource allocation in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network. A relay node in an TAB network may be assigned a first resource partition that is different from a second resource partition for the child and parent nodes. Based on a resource configuration (e.g., for a slot) of the second resource partition, the relay node may opportunistically utilize the second resource partition for communications. For instance, the relay node may determine a direction table based on the resource configurations of the child and parent nodes, which may be used to perform uplink or downlink communications in one or more symbols of the second resource partition. The relay node may also identify flexible symbols as free or non-free when determining the direction table.

    Abstract: To synchronize an apparatus during wireless communication, an apparatus may transmit a Random Access Channel (RACH) preamble sequence to a base station. However, care must be taken to prevent the RACH preamble sequence from causing inadequate levels of interference in other uplink resources. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be configured to determine, based on a RACH subcarrier spacing and a data tone subcarrier spacing, a number of RACH tones allocated for a transmission of a RACH preamble sequence. In this manner, the apparatus may ensure that adequate uplink resources are allocated to prevent interference.

    Abstract: Techniques are described herein for reordering beams used to transmit reference signals for subsequent beam sweeps of a beam management procedure. Beams used to transmit reference signals may be hierarchically ordered to enable a user equipment (UE) to terminate the beam management procedure early and thereby conserve power while operating in a discontinuous reception mode. A base station may transmit reference signals using a first ordered set of beams as part of a first beam sweep. The UE may transmit feedback information to the base station about the signal quality for at least some of the reference signals. The base station may generate a second ordered set of beams based on the feedback information. The base station may transmit the reference signals using the second ordered set of beams as part of a second beam sweep.

    Abstract: In a wireless communications system that supports directional communications (e.g., a millimeter wave (mmW) system), a base station and a user equipment (UE) may utilize directional transmissions during a paging procedure. In some cases, a base station may use beam sweeping to transmit a control channel, which may contain a paging group information. For example, the base station may configure the UE or a group of UEs to monitor for the paging group information over a set of time-frequency resources. A UE that receives the paging group information may determine transmission resources to monitor for a subsequent data channel transmission based at least in part on the identified paging group information. The base station may then transmit the paging information over the indicated transmission resources.
