    Abstract: A wireless power system has first and second electronic devices. The first electronic device may receive power from an alternating-current-to-direct-current power converter. A magnetic sensor and/or other sensing circuitry may detect when a second electronic device is attached to the first electronic device. In response to detecting device attachment and receipt of power from the power converter, the first electronic device sends test wireless power signals to the second electronic device. During reception of the test signals, the second electronic device adjusts a ballast load so that output current from a rectifier in the second electronic device flows through the ballast load. The output of the rectifier is measured and compared to a threshold voltage. If the rectifier output voltage exceeds the threshold, the first electronic device is directed to alert the user that wireless charging of the second electronic device is commencing.

    Abstract: A head-mounted device may have a head-mounted support structure, a gaze tracker in the head-mounted support structure, and one or more displays in the head-mounted support structure. For example, two displays may display images to two eye boxes. The display may display a virtual keyboard and may display a text input in response to a gaze location that is determined by the gaze tracker. The gaze tracker may additionally determine a gaze swipe input, or a camera in the support structure may determine a hand swipe input, and the swipe input may be used with the gaze location to determine the text input. In particular, the swipe input may create a swipe input curve that is fit to the text input to determine the text input. A user's hand may be used as a secondary input to indicate the start or end of a text input.

An example electronic device may include a frame, an image sensor, a transparent substrate coupled to the frame, a waveguide coupled to the transparent substrate, and a processor coupled to the plurality of IR light sources. The transparent substrate may include a plurality of infrared (IR) light sources that may be configured in a spatial arrangement within the transparent substrate or on a surface of the transparent substrate. The waveguide may be configured to display a projected image. The processor may be configured to receive sensor data from the image sensor. The sensor data may correspond to a plurality of reflections of light produced by the plurality of IR light sources and reflected from an eye.

    Abstract: A head-mounted device may include optical assemblies for presenting images to a user. Optical assembly positioning systems may be used to adjust the spacing between the optical assemblies to accommodate different interpupillary distances. The optical assembly positioning systems may have motors. Nose pressure sensors may be provided to detect nose pressure as optical assemblies are moved towards each other and towards nose surfaces by the motors. Motion of the optical assemblies can be halted whenever the detected nose pressure rises. The nose pressure sensors may each include an air pressure sensor and a pressure-sensing compressible air-filled chamber coupled to the air pressure sensor.

    Abstract: An electronic device may include a display and an optical sensor formed underneath the display. The display may have both a full pixel density region and a pixel removal region with a plurality of high-transmittance areas that overlap the optical sensor. To mitigate reflectance mismatch between the full pixel density region and the pixel removal region, the pixel removal region may include a transition region at one or more edges. In the transition region, one or more components may have a gradual density change between the full pixel density region and a central portion of the pixel removal region. Components that may have a changing density in the transition region include dummy thin-film transistor sub-pixels, dummy anodes, a cathode layer, and a touch sensor metal layer. The transition region may also include anodes that gradually change shape and/or size.
