Abstract:
A light emitting diode (LED) sign lighter is positioned to illuminate a sign. One or more LED modules on the LED sign lighter are directed toward different portions of the sign. Each LED module is configured with a reflector or over-optic to control the angle of the light emitted toward the sign. Each LED module includes an array of LEDs. The configuration of each LED module within the LED sign lighter helps to reduce the build-up of environmental contaminants on the LED module. The center section of the LED sign lighter includes a compartment for housing electrical components to power the LED modules. Heat sink fins are oriented along the back side of the LED sign lighter to provide thermal efficiency for the LED modules.
Abstract:
An elbow terminator has a socket in which an electrical probe is disposed. The terminator is insertable onto an electrical bushing such that a tongue of the bushing is received in the socket of the terminator, and the probe of the terminator is electrically coupled to a contact sleeve disposed within the tongue. A latching mechanism produces positive latching between the tongue and socket when the tongue has been inserted to a predescribed depth within the socket. In order to enable an operator to visually observe that the tongue has been inserted to the prescribed depth, the bushing carries a color band which becomes completely disposed (invisible) in the socket when positive latching occurs. Alternatively, the bushing can be provided with gauge tabs which become aligned with a witness line formed on the terminator when positive latching occurs.
Abstract:
A boost device is coupled to a compensation device that is configured to be connected to a power system. The boost device includes multiple portions, each of the multiple portions including at least one electrical element, and a solid-state switching device electrically connected to the at least one electrical element. The solid-state switching device is connected in parallel with the at least one electrical element such that closing the solid-state switching substantially prevents current flow to the at least one electrical element.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for providing message communication among multiple communication gateways. In particular, systems and methods for providing non-voice message delivery to intended recipients with increased speed and reliability to multiple users on multiple platforms. The systems and methods relate to non-voice messaging to multiple messaging gateways. In at least one embodiment, the systems and methods include Internet based electronic messaging using a messaging subsystem configured to optimize text message delivery to communication gateways.
Abstract:
A circuit breaker for a transformer includes means for interrupting circuitry in the transformer upon a fault condition in the transformer (the “fault interruption means”). The circuit breaker also includes means for interrupting the circuitry when a level of dielectric fluid in a tank of the transformer is unacceptably low (the “low oil trip means”). The fault interruption means includes a magnet, metal element, and first actuator. Upon the fault condition, the magnet and metal element separate, moving the first actuator to cause the electrical circuitry to open. The low oil trip means includes a float, insulating rod, and second actuator. When the dielectric fluid level drops to an unacceptably low level, the float and insulating rod drop, moving the second actuator to cause the circuitry to open. The low oil trip means operates independently of the fault interruption means, opening the circuitry without separating the magnet and metal element.
Abstract:
An adapter for connecting a 600 ampere deadbreak bushing to a pull-on and pull-off deadbreak elbow used for normally non-current carrying applications. The adapter comprises a two part separable assembly having first and second ends. The first end is threaded to mate with a threaded opening in the deadbreak bushing and the second end is threaded to mate with a threaded opening in a lug of the deadbreak elbow. The two part separable assembly is coupled together with the first part of the assembly that is screwed into the deadbreak bushing and has a groove that snaps (latches) into a corresponding latching ring in a molded insert of the deadbreak elbow that surrounds the second part of the assembly screwed into the lug inside of the deadbreak elbow. Other latching mechanisms may be used to mechanically and electrically couple together the first and second parts of the adapter assembly.

Abstract:
A cable tray expansion splice plate for connecting first and second cable tray sections end-to-end is disclosed. The splice plate includes an elongate body having a central section, an upper flange section, and a lower flange section. In one embodiment, the lower flange section defines a channel for receiving components of the first and second cable tray sections such that the lower flange section underlies the components. Fastener openings in the central section and the lower flange section receive fasteners to fasten the body to the cable tray sections. These openings include slots which permit the cable tray sections to move relative to one another in a longitudinal direction.
Abstract:
A transient voltage suppression device includes a dielectric layer defining a receptacle for a variable impedance material proximate a gapped electrode. Methods for manufacturing the device and for formulating a variable voltage material at lower cost and with higher manufacturing yields is also provided.
