    Abstract: The invention relates to the monitoring of pressure in production tubing (3) and/or annuli (7, 9) of an oil or gas well. Patterns of pressure in tubing and/or annuli may be indicative of a fault or a condition which requires attention. Patterns may also be recognized that, e.g. based in rates of change, may indicate that a fault may be going to occur in the future. Pressure differences between tubing and annuli or between different annuli may be monitored in the same way.

    Abstract: Implementations described and claimed herein provide systems and methods for developing resources from an unconventional reservoir. In one implementation, raw reservoir data for the unconventional reservoir is obtained. The raw reservoir data includes geology data, completion data, development data, and production data. The raw reservoir data is transformed to transformed data. The raw reservoir data is transformed to the transformed data based on a transformation from a set of one or more raw variable to a set of one or more transformed variables. The set of one or more transformed variables is statistically uncorrelated. Resource development data is extracted from the transformed data. Performance analytics are generated for the unconventional reservoir using the resource development data. The performance analytics are generated through ensemble machine learning. The unconventional reservoir is developed based on the performance analytics.

    Abstract: Systems and methods of logging in a well include utilizing a solidifying fluid, such as magnetorheological fluid, in at least one annulus surrounding a logging tool. Given production tubing may remain in the well during the logging as desired for efficiency, space between the production tubing and a casing string may form the annulus. Filling the annulus with the solidifying fluid and selective activation of the solidifying fluid to a solidified state during the logging limits interference in data collected as a result of transmitting across the annulus. Deactivation of the solidifying fluid to a liquefied state enables recovery of the solidifying fluid from the well after the logging. Embodiments employ the logging in various applications, such as assessing a cemented casing string in well abandonment operations.

    Abstract: Robust methods for quantitating the amount of elemental sulfur in a fluid whereby a caustic solution is mixed with the fluid, and the elemental sulfur present in the fluid reacts to form a colored solution that can be compared to a series of standards. The methods can be performed in a laboratory or the field and allow for real time feedback. Once the concentration of the elemental sulfur is known, appropriate methods of treatment can proceed. Test kits for performing the methods in the field are also described.

    Abstract: A composition and methods for setting a plug for well bores undergoing plugging and abandonment operations is described. Methods of setting the plug are also described include placing a blocking device below the plug location and creating a void space above the blocking device; placing a heat resistant base plate above the blocking device and introducing nano-thermite clusters and expandable bismuth alloy pellets into the void space; igniting the thermite and cooling the melted alloy to form a permanent plug in the void space.
