    Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus (28) for varying a focal point (24) of an optical system in a dental 3D-scanner (10), comprising: a lens unit (30) with a lens (20) being movable between a front reversal position and a rear reversal position to vary a position of a focal point with respect to a scan object (22): a guide unit (34) for guiding a movement of the lens unit between the front reversal position and the rear reversal position along a guide axis (48) being parallel to an optical axis (46) of the lens; and a drive unit (36) for driving the movement of the lens unit, said drive unit including a linear motor (38) with an anchor (40) and a stator (42), said anchor being movable along a drive axis (44) of the drive unit that is parallel to the guide axis, said stator being affixed to the guide unit. The present invention further relates to a dental 3D-scanner (10) for scanning a three-dimensional scan object.

    Abstract: Described is a method for detecting and displaying the movement of a temporomandibular joint which connects a lower jaw and an upper jaw by magnetic resonance imaging. A marker is secured to the lower jaw, a marker movement curve is generated using magnetic resonance imaging measurement data sets during a first measurement interval, during which the lower jaw is moved relative to the upper jaw, and a point which corresponds to a first position of the lower jaw relative to the upper jaw is ascertained on the movement curve. An image data set is generated during a second measurement interval, during which the temporomandibular joint is not moved, and a first model, which represents at least one part of the upper jaw and/or a temporal bone part that comprises the temporomandibular joint socket, and a second model, which represents at least one part of the lower jaw, are ascertained therefrom. A movement curve of the second model relative to the first model is calculated and displayed using the marker movement curve.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an optical measuring method for the three-dimensional detection of the surface of an object using an optical recording unit. The optical recording unit is moved relative to the object during a first measurement time interval, height maps are successively detected by the recording unit at a recording frequency, and at least some of the detected height maps are each added to an overall height map and displayed. The recording frequency is regulated by control signals during the measurement time interval. The control signals are generated spaced apart in time and for the purposes of producing each control signal, a statistic for the quality of the height map is determined for the respectively last detected height image and used for producing the control signal. The statistic is the overall intensity and/or the maximum intensity and/or the contrast and/or the number of extracted data points and/or a quality of extracted data points and/or the signal-to-noise ratio and/or the contrast of an additionally generated color image.
