Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing content in a broadcast system is provided. Upon receipt of a request for synchronization from a mobile terminal, a set-top box creates a recommended content list based on user information received from the mobile terminal and delivers the recommended content list to the mobile terminal. The set-top box receives from the mobile terminal a content list, selected from the recommended content list and included in a Personal Information Management System (PIMS) updated using the recommended content list. The set-top box determines whether a user of the mobile terminal intends to view content from the received content list at a start time of the content. Upon receipt of view acceptance information from the mobile terminal, the set-top box sends a request for the content to a service provider at the start time, receives the requested content from the service provider, and provides the received content to the mobile terminal.
Abstract:
An Internet broadcasting system for supporting broadcast services by using Internet Protocol (IP), and more particularly an apparatus and method for providing a user's preferred contents in an Internet broadcasting system are provided. The method of providing contents in an Internet broadcasting system includes searching for contents in an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) according to a user preference, constituting a user channel, based on the searched contents and providing a terminal with the searched contents according to the user channel.
Abstract:
A method and system is provided for sharing a service guide or a service guide fragment in a mobile broadcast system supporting a mobile broadcast service. A Broadcast Service Provisioning Client Function (BSP-C) sends a request for the service guide or service guide fragment to a Broadcast Service Provisioning Management Function (BSP-M). The BSP-M transmits the service guide or service guide fragment to the BSP-C if the BSP-M has the service guide or service guide fragment.
Abstract:
A method and system for providing security to Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) operations in a home network environment based on ownership rights where a request is received from a Control Point (CP) to perform an UPnP action associated with an UPnP resource. It is determined whether the CP holds an ownership right to perform the UPnP action based on ownership data associated with the UPnP resource. Accordingly, the CP is authorized to execute the UPnP action on the UPnP resource or an error message is returned to the CP based on the ownership of the UPnP resource.
Abstract:
A method of updating software of terminals in a mobile broadcast system is provided. The method includes creating an update command for terminals of a particular model, the update command including update information; and broadcasting the created update command. The update information includes software version information and at least one of terminal manufacturer information and terminal model information. Further, the method may further include, before broadcasting the created update command, forcibly requiring terminals subscribe to an update service; and creating and broadcasting an update file for terminals of the particular model from among the forcibly subscribed terminals. The software of the terminals may be firmware.
Abstract:
A method for providing a notification message in a transmitter of a mobile broadcast system supporting an interaction channel is disclosed. Upon an occurrence of a notification event, a first means generates a notification message, and generates at least one delivery request message including a target address based on subscription information of the corresponding terminal, using the generated notification message. A second means determines a channel over which it will deliver a notification message to the corresponding terminal based on the target address, and delivers the notification message over the determined channel.
Abstract:
A service guide provision method and system for a digital broadcast service is provided for distributing a rich media-enabled service guide. A rich media-enabled service guide provisioning method for a digital broadcast service includes creating a Rich Media Solution (RMS) template for a service guide with reference to service guide fragments; creating a service guide delivery descriptor containing RMS information on the RMS template and service guide fragment information on the service guide fragments; and broadcasting the service guide fragments, the RMS template, and the service guide delivery descriptor.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for updating firmware of terminals in a mobile broadcast system including a Broadcast Service Distribution/Adaptation fragment (BSDA) and a Broadcast service Subscription Management (BSM). The method includes requesting creation of a content fragment, by the BSM, by transmitting a firmware package file for a firmware update of the terminals to the BSDA; creating a content fragment including the firmware package file and broadcasting the created content fragment to the terminals by the BSDA; detecting the firmware package file from the received content fragment; and performing the firmware update using the firmware package file.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for continuously providing a selected service being watched when a user moves out of a cell or network in a Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H) Convergence of Broadcasting and Mobile Service (CBMS) system. Information required for a handover is provided to a terminal using an interactive channel. The handover for the terminal can be performed using a conventional scheme and an enhanced scheme even when the user moves to a new cell while watching the selected service. As the enhanced handover scheme is provided, the user can receive a seamless service. In a mobile environment, a handover scenario for the terminal can be efficiently provided.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for transmitting a notification message in a mobile broadcast system that includes transmitting common notification message channel information necessary for receiving a common notification message for all users capable of receiving broadcast services, along with an Electronic Service Guide (ESG) for the broadcast services or a control signal for the broadcast services; transmitting specific notification message channel information necessary for receiving a specific notification message for a specific user group to a terminal in the specific user group along with the ESG; generating at least one of the common notification message and the specific notification message; and transmitting the generated notification message to the terminal using the corresponding channel information.
