Abstract: A transparent electronic display layer is placed between a front and rear transparent layer. A light guide is positioned behind the transparent electronic display layer and has an outer edge. Lighting elements are positioned adjacent to the outer edge. A cavity is positioned adjacent to and on an opposing side of the lighting elements as compared to the light guide such that light exiting the lighting elements enters both the light guide and the cavity. A graphic may be provided at the cavity.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments disclosed herein provide a back pan cooling assembly for an electronic display having a rear pan. A cooling back pan is preferably positioned behind the rear pan, the space between the cooling back pan and the rear pan defining a gap. A fan is positioned to cause a flow of ambient air through the gap. An electronic component for driving the electronic display may be placed in conductive thermal communication with the cooling back pan. A rear cover can be placed against the cooling back pan to define a sealed compartment which does not permit ambient air to enter. A port can be provided within the rear cover which allows ambient air to travel between the surroundings, the fan, and the gap.

Abstract: Methods for measuring power consumption include providing an assembly with electronic display subassemblies at a housing. The subassemblies each include light sources behind or adjacent to an electronic display layer and electricity consuming components. A simulated electric meter is electrically interposed between a utility electric supply and the electricity consuming components. The simulated electric meter includes a processor, an electronic storage device, and a current sensor. The assembly is operated. Current measurements are taken at the simulated electric meter. The power consumed is determined by multiplying each of the one or more current measurements with a predetermined amount or measurements from a voltage sensor to determine one or more power consumption measures.

Abstract: An electronic display assembly includes a housing with a pass-through device which accepts a utility line. One or more electronic display subassemblies are placed within said housing and a are surrounded by a substantially sealed closed loop pathway. An open loop pathway permits ambient air to pass through said housing and thermally interact with said closed loop pathway without mixing. At least two peripheral devices are located within said housing, one of which is a charging subassembly and the other is selected from the group consisting of: a camera, a touchscreen, an additional electronic display, video communications equipment, audio communications equipment, and an emergency notification subassembly.

Abstract: A vending machine with a transparent electronic display includes a pair of lighting strips for illuminating a storage compartment which holds retails goods. A door frame assembly covers the front of the storage compartment. A cover glass is placed in front of and spaced apart from the transparent electronic display. A series of brackets connect the cover glass and the transparent electronic display to a door frame assembly and cover the gap between the cover glass and the transparent electronic display, masking the region located beyond the brackets.

Abstract: The exemplary embodiments herein disclose an electronic display assembly using a monolithic electronic display panel with a single video player in electrical connection with a single timing and control board (TCON) which is in electrical connection with the monolithic electronic display panel. The single video player and TCON are adapted to transmit a combination of both still images and full motion video to be shown simultaneously on the electronic display. Different areas of the display can be used to show different content, either video or still images. Bezels can be graphically generated between the images, which can change shape, location, or be removed altogether as the display content changes.

Abstract: An assembly for suspending an electronic display between a first structure located above the electronic display and a second structure located below the electronic display includes a housing for the electronic display. A plurality of elongate members each extend through the housing and are configured to extend from the first structure to the second structure. A substantially sealed compartment for circulating gas is positioned within the housing. A channel extends through the housing, is in thermal communication with the substantially sealed compartment, and is configured to receive ambient air. Clamps are provided which are each sized to accept one of the elongate members.
