Abstract:
A dual component tooth whitening composition is disclosed, which composition contains a peroxide whitening and a second ingredient incompatible with the peroxide compound, the second ingredient and the peroxide compound each being incorporated in separate dentifrice components which are physically separated until dispensed for use, the components retaining their original physical state when in contact, the first component being a composition containing a peroxide whitening compound in a vehicle thickened with a combination of a particulated water insoluble inorganic compound and an organic thickener other than an alkylene oxide polymer, and the second component containing the ingredient incompatible with the peroxide.
Abstract:
An aqueous dentifrice composition comprising an aqueous vehicle containing at least two active ingredients reactive with each other, at least one of the active ingredients being encapsulated in a substantially water immiscible, pressure rupturable shell which is rupturable during use of the dentifrice, causing the same to be released for interaction with the other active ingredient, the shell being formed from a plasticized alkyl cellulose polymer. The dentifrice exhibits increased efficacy for fluoridation of teeth when the active ingredients are soluble fluoride salt and a calcium salt encapsulated in the plasticized alkyl cellulose polymer.
Abstract:
An aqueous abrasive whitening composition containing a peroxide whitening compound which is chemically and physically stable and exhibits heightened and rapid whitening of teeth and stain removal which comprises a combination of water, abrasive and peroxide compounds, a humectant containing a polyethylene glycol, a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block copolymer, a metal ion complexing agent and an antioxidant, the pH of the composition being in the range of about 5.8 to about 7.2.
Abstract:
A two component desensitizing dentifrice composition is disclosed which comprises a first dentifrice component containing a desensitizing potassium salt such as potassium nitrate and a second dentifrice component containing a second desensitizing agent other than a potassium salt the such as SnF.sub.2, the second desensitizing agent being incompatible with the potassium salt, the first and second dentifrice components being maintained separate from the other until dispensed for application to teeth requiring relief from dentine hypersensitivity.
Abstract:
An oral composition of acceptable taste substantially non-irritating to oral tissue, the composition containing an effective amount of a sodium lauryl sulfoacetate surfactant purified to contain less than 18% by weight impurities. An amount of a nonionic or amphoteric compound is included in the composition to enhance the foaming ability of the purified sodium lauryl sulfoacetate surfactant as well as to further reduce its irritancy potential.
Abstract:
Abrasive dentifrice compositions containing an oxygen liberating whitening compound which is stable with respect to oxygen level and exhibits heightened and rapid whitening of teeth and stain removal which comprises a combination of a dicalcium phosphate compound and a metal ion free peroxide compound.
Abstract:
The invention provides an oral care system comprising a gel in a pen dispenser, the dispenser comprising a chamber which permits dispensing of a measured amount of the gel, wherein the gel exhibits a Herschel-Bulkley yield stress of 10 to 230 dynes/cm2, a Herschel-Bulkley viscosity of 3 to 500 poise, and a Herschel-Bulkley rate index of 0.4 to 0.6, the specific viscosity permitting efficient application of the gel, as well as methods of using the same.
Abstract:
Described herein are compositions comprising a film, wherein the film comprises a pigment, and is adapted to release the pigment at a specific point in time during use; and methods of making and using the same.
