Abstract:
A catalyst composition comprising an inorganic support material, a palladium component, a silver component, and a promotor component having the formula XYFn, wherein X is an alkaline metal, Y is an element selected from the group consisting of antimony, phosphorus, boron, aluminum, gallium, indium, thallium, and arsenic, and n is an integer which makes YFn a monovalent anion. The above-described catalyst is employed as a catalyst in the selective hydrogenation of acetylene. The above-described catalyst is made by incorporating a palladium component, a silver component, and a promotor component into an inorganic support material.
Abstract:
A process and apparatus for the biological production of sulfuric acid are provided. The invention utilizes a pile containing a sulfur material, an acidophilic microbe and, preferably, a packing material. The pile is aerated and contacted with an aqueous solution.
Abstract:
This invention provides catalyst compositions that are useful for polymerizing at least one monomer to produce a polymer. This invention also provides catalyst compositions that are useful for polymerizing at least one monomer to produce a polymer, wherein said catalyst composition comprises contacting an organometal compound, an organoaluminum compound, and a treated solid oxide compound.
Abstract:
Pyridyldiimine ligands having one of the following structures: 1 and pyridyldiimine metal complexes having one of the following structures: 2 for example the Group 4b, 5b, 6b, 7b, and 8 transition metal (M) complexes such as vanadium complexes, are disclosed. The invention also relates to the use of these metal complexes as olefin polymerization or oligomerization catalysts, optionally in combination with metal alumoxane and similar catalyst activators. Certain of these catalysts have been found to possess robust activity as selective oligomerization catalysts, while others of these catalysts act selectively as polymerization catalysts. A method of synthesizing the above-noted ligands using p-toluenesulfonic acid as a catalyst is also disclosed.
Abstract:
Novel catalyst systems which comprise diimine nickel complexes comprising additional ligands selected from the group consisting of acetylacetonate, hexaflourylacetylacetonate, halogens and mixtures thereof can be used with methylaluminoxane in slurry polymerization processes to polymerize mono-1-olefins and, optionally one or more higher mono-1-olefin comonomer(s), to produce high molecular weight polymers.
Abstract:
An improved hydraulic fracturing method for fracturing an unconsolidated zone in a subterranean formation by fracturing a nearby consolidated zone to form a fracture which extends into the unconsolidated zone. This invention further relates to a method for producing fluids from an unconsolidated subterranean zone via a fracture extending from the unconsolidated zone through a consolidated zone to a wellbore.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for enhancing oil recovery through improved injection well performance is provided, wherein a fluid is injected into the well bore at a pressure P1, and a downhole fluid-actuated engine and pump assembly is employed as a booster in order to generate a high pressure output at pressure Ph greater than P1 and a low pressure output at pressure P1 lower than P1; the respective output streams are directed to lower and higher permeability geological strata adjacent the well bore in order to increase production.
Abstract:
A novel composition having the formula: 1 wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms and an aryl group, and R2 is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group containing from 1 to 20 carbon atoms and an aryl group. The composition is made by combining an amine compound, a carbonyl compound, a solvent, and a sulfur-containing compound. The composition is used as a detergent additive in cleaning process.
