摘要: A spatial light modulator which includes a light modulation layer which is interposed between two photoconductive layers and laminated to both layers; the two photo conductive layers have charge images written thereon, respectively, by illumination of a writing light carrying optical information; the illumination direction of the writing light to the photoconductive layers are different from each other; and the two photoconductive layers permit the reading light to pass therethrough. When illuminated by a reading light via either of the first or second photoconductive layers, the light modulation layer optically modulates the reading light in accordance with the first and second charge images, under the presence of a voltage applied to the modulator. Thus it reads read out the first information and second information. The first and second photoconductive layers permit the reading light to pass therethrough.

摘要: An apparatus for processing information carried by an electro-magnetic radiation beam. The apparatus includes a charge holding member for storing a charge latent image, a generator for generating an electro-magnetic radiation beam which is a superimposition of a plurality of electro-magnetic radiation beams with different wavelength ranges, a filter for separating the superimposed beam into the plurality of electro-magnetic radiation beams and a photo-conductive member provided adjacent to the charge latent image holding member and having an impedance which varies according to the intensity of each of the plurality of beams separated by the filter. Charge latent images corresponding to each of the plurality of beams are thus recorded on the charge latent image holding member. The charge latent images thus recorded on the charge latent image holding member are reproduced by means of a photo-modulation member provided instead of a photo-conductive member.

摘要: An efficiency polarization converter of few optical components for converting a randomly polarized light into a single beam of linearly polarized light, comprises a first optical device receiving the random light and projecting two linearly polarized lights one projected in a first direction, another to a second optical device which changes the polarization plane thereof, the polarization changes light being directed by a third optical device to the first direction, thereby the two linearly polarized light are combined and aligned to have a common polarization to become the single beam linearly polarized light projected in the first direction. Typical first optical device is a polarization beam splitter, a typical second optical device is a quarterwave plate with a mirror, a halfwave plate or a Fresnel rhomb with a mirror, or a photomodulation material interposed between biased electrodes with a mirror, a typical third optical device is a polarization beam splitter, a prism or a mirror. The first and third optical devices may be combined to a 3-prism structure. The polarization converter may be used with liquid crystal light modulators to utilize image display systems.

摘要: There is provided a photoelectric conversion device for an electro-magnetic radiation beam incident thereto, into a charge pattern, the electro-magnetic radiation beam carrying information intended to be recorded. The device has electrodes, a photo-conductive layer member laminated to the electrodes having maximum thickness and a surface defining the maximum thickness between the electrodes, and a gap defined between the surface and a recording member disposed to face the surface of the photo-conductive layer member. There is further provided an apparatus for recording a charge latent image without losing the high resolution. The apparatus has a photoelectric conversion device having an electrode and a photo-conductive layer member on which the charge latent image is generated by projecting an optical image carrying information signals to the photo-conductive layer member, and a recording member having an electrode and a charge holding layer member facing the photo-conductive layer member to form a gap therebetween. A predetermined voltage is applied between the electrodes of the photoelectric conversion device and the recording member to transfer the charge latent image to the charge holding member by spark discharge.

摘要: The medical handpiece of the present invention includes a cutting tool having a flexible shank and a cutting bur, a plastically deformable tubular casing for the cutting tool, a handpiece body detachably holding the cutting tool, bearing members disposed in the casing, an inner intervening member for receiving the shank, and an outer intervening member arranged around the inner intervening member. The inner and outer intervening members are composed of a plurality of segments, and each segment is arranged between or on distal or proximal side of the bearing members. Each segment of the outer intervening member is further composed of a plurality of sub-segments. Annular members having the outer diameter that is larger than that of the outer intervening member are arranged between the sub-segments of the outer intervening member. The present handpiece provides improved operationality since shaking is hardly generated even when the casing is flexed.
