Abstract: A phase locked loop and an associated alignment method are provided. A disclosed phase locked loop receives a reference signal to provide a feedback signal. The phase locked loop is first opened. When the phase locked loop is open, a frequency range of an oscillating signal from a voltage-controlled oscillator is substantially selected. The feedback signal is provided according to the oscillation signal. After the frequency range is selected, the phase locked loop is kept open and the phases of the reference signal and the feedback signal are substantially aligned. The phase locked loop is then closed after the reference signal and the feedback signal are aligned.

Abstract: A cine imaging filter and method of use that includes a denoising image-filter based on the Karhunen-Loeve transform along the temporal direction to take advantage of the high temporal correlation among images. The cine imaging filter may further include the application of a simple formula describing the quantitative noise reduction capabilities of the KLT filter as a function of eigenimage cutoff. Additionally, the filter may validate its accuracy in numerical simulation and in in-vivo real time cine images. Furthermore, exemplary embodiments of the cine imaging filter may employ a technique to automatically select the optimal eigenimage cutoff to maximize noise reduction with minimal effect on image information.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining well placements, or drainage areas, in a hydrocarbon reservoir to facilitate operation of the reservoir. Drainage area configurations are generated randomly, by generating, for each configuration, placements for each drainage area. The placements of each drainage area are determined to optimize a quality criterion, by an iterative optimization algorithm during which for first iterations, the quality criterion is evaluated by a flow simulator, and for subsequent iterations, an approximate evaluation model of the quality criterion is constructed. The quality of the approximate model is evaluated and the quality criterion is determined by the approximate model or by the flow simulator according to the quality of this approximate model.

Abstract: A method of developing a petroleum reservoir from a reservoir model and optimized history matching is disclosed having application for petroleum reservoir characterization. A global objective function measuring the differences between the measured historical data and the simulated historical data is defined according to M parameters. The global objective function is then decomposed into a sum of k local objective functions. Each local objective function measures the differences on a geographic region from mk parameters, selected from among the M parameters, and having a significant impact on the historical data of the region. The region is determined by minimizing this number mk of parameters. The model is then modified by minimizing the global objective function by a gradient method wherein the derivatives of the local objective functions are estimated by means of a parameter perturbation technique. For each local objective function, the perturbation matrix has a rank equal to the number of parameters mk of the local objective function. Finally, the calibrated model is used to develop the reservoir.

Abstract: The present application discloses a method and system for transmitting a Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS), which is used for solving the problem that macro cell coverage of the MBMS and macro diversity combining of multi-cells cannot be implemented efficiently based on a frame structure of the existing Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) system in prior art. The method includes: mapping a channel estimation code and data symbols of a Broadcast/Multicast Service to a resource unit, wherein the channel estimation code is mapped in front of the data symbols in a signal frame at a time slot for all services or a time slot for the MBMS; and transmitting the resource unit. Using the present application, efficiency and performance of transmitting a MBMS are improved, and the multi-cells combining of the MBMS and deployment of the MBMS with a macro cell mechanism are implemented efficiently.
