    摘要: A wireless base station architecture that is particularly well-suited for providing audio, video and data services. An exemplary embodiment preferably transmits to all of an area those "common services" (e.g., broadcast television) that are intended to be received by multiple recipients throughout the area, but, in contrast, transmits only into a sector those recipient-specific services (e.g., point-to-point voice services, interactive video services) that are intended for less than all of the recipients in the area. In an exemplary embodiment, a demultiplexor directs both broadcast video and recipient-specific or "sectorized" video signals to a video processor, which prepares them for transmission. The demultiplexor also directs sectorized audio signals to an audio processor/RF combiner, which prepares them for transmission. The video processor preferably directs the broadcast video signals to an antenna, which radiates the signal throughout the area, but directs the sectorized video signals to the audio processor/RF combiner. The audio processor/RF combiner combines the sectorized audio signals and the sectorized video signals before transmitting them to an antenna, which radiates the combined signal throughout the sector.

    摘要: The present invention encompasses an apparatus and method for supporting multiple wireless data communication networks between a wireless communications device and a fixed communications device or another wireless communications device. Two network elements compose the physical apparatus, a protocol converter and a router. Upon receiving packet data from a fixed communications device, a router will locate a destination wireless communications device. The router will then convert the packet data to a format usable by the wireless data network that the wireless communications device is currently using for wireless access. After conversion, the router will perform actual transmission of the packet data to the correct destination wireless network. Once the converted packet data is received by the wireless network base station, it will be transmitted via RF to the destination wireless communications device. The router will also perform reverse functions of receiving packet data from a wireless communications device across wireless data network and then perform necessary conversion to a format usable by fixed communications device. The router will then perform actual transmission of the converted packet data to the fixed communications device.

    摘要: A MOSFET gate driver circuit reduces the noise susceptibility of a MOSFET switch by utilizing dual drive paths to apply turn-on and turn-off bias signals to the gate of the MOSFET. Drive pulses are coupled to the MOSFET switch via a pulse transformer which has two serially connected secondary windings. Turn-on pulses are coupled by a diode from the first secondary to the MOSFET gate. Turn-off pulses are coupled via the second secondary to a control MOSFET which is turned on by a turn-off pulse and remains on in order to keep the gate of the MOSFET switch to a hold off voltage.

    摘要: A system and method in which a dual image-reject mixer arrangement receives an RF signal having at least one channel. The dual image-reject mixer arrangement generates first and second signals corresponding to each channel of the RF signal. Each first and second signal includes a desired signal, an image frequency signal and an intermodulation signal. A feed-forward arrangement receives the first and second signals corresponding to each channel and outputs a third signal that is formed by constructively combining the desired signals corresponding to each channel and substantially cancelling the intermodulation signals corresponding to each channel. An in-phase and quadrature hybrid network receives the third signal and outputs an in-phase baseband signal and a quadrature baseband signal corresponding to each channel of the RF signal. A controller is coupled to the dual image-reject mixer arrangement and monitors the first and second signals, and controls an amplitude and a phase of the image frequency signals so that the image frequency signals are collectively minimized based on the monitored first and second signals. The controller is also coupled to the feed-forward arrangement and monitors the third signal. Based on the monitored third signals, the controller controls the amplitude and the phase of the intermodulation signals so that the intermodulation signals are collectively optimally cancelled.
