Each hole interchangeably accepts a compression screw for compression of a fracture and a locking screw that threads into the bone plate. Provisional fixation of a bone plate to a bone may be accomplished using provisional fixation pins through the screw-receiving holes of the bone plate.

The surgeon's device can send a request for a template of a biomedical implant, and can access tools to edit the template. The response can further include generating a notice if the edited template falls outside of an acceptable range, or if the edited template is similar to the design of a standard biomedical implant. There can also be provided a manufacturing facility that can manufacture the implant and send the implant to the surgeon.

The threads in the head may have a constant major diameter and a tapered minor diameter that creates a radial interference fit. The threads in the head may also have a variable pitch that creates an axial interference fit. The head may have a low profile to reduce soft tissue irritation.
