Abstract: Embodiments of a vehicle interior system are disclosed. In one or more embodiments, the system includes a base with a curved surface, and a display or touch panel disposed on the curved surface. The display includes a cold-bent glass substrate with a thickness of 1.5 mm or less and a first radius of curvature of 20 mm or greater, and a display module and/or touch panel attached to the glass substrate having a second radius of curvature that is within 10% of the first radius of curvature. Methods for forming such systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: Dynamically adjustable display systems for adjusting the position of a flexible display in response to ambient light. The display system includes a flexible display that is capable of reversibly bending along one or more bending axes. The display system further includes an adjustable support on which the flexible display is mounted, the adjustable support being able to selectively bend the flexible display. The display system includes photodetectors for detecting ambient light. The photodetectors may be positioned about a perimeter of the flexible display. A control unit in communication with the adjustable support and the plurality of photodetectors may cause the adjustable support to bend the flexible display in response to ambient light detected at the plurality of photodetectors.

Abstract: Embodiments of this disclosure pertain to a vehicle interior system comprising a base having a base surface; and a glass article coupled to the surface, wherein the glass article comprises a first portion comprising a first elastically deformed surface forming a first concave shape with a first radius of curvature from about 20 mm to about 2000 mm, and a second elastically deformed surface directly opposite the first elastically deformed surface that forms a second convex shape, wherein the second elastically deformed surface has a surface compressive stress that is less than a compressive stress at the first elastically deformed surface, and a second portion adjacent the first portion, wherein the second portion is substantially planar portion or curved.

Abstract: Embodiments of a decorated glass are provided. The decorated glass includes a transparent substrate having a first major surface and a second major surface. The second major surface is opposite the first major surface. The decorated glass also includes a black ink layer disposed on the second major surface in a display region. The black ink layer has a transmission coefficient of between 0.2 and 0.85 with respect to incident light having a wavelength of 400 nm to 700 nm. The decorated glass has 2% or less of sparkle when measured from the first major surface via pixel power deviation reference (PPDr).

Abstract: Embodiments of an article comprising a cold-formed glass substrate in a curved shape, a plurality of separate mechanical retainers, and a frame are disclosed. The cold-formed glass substrate has a first major surface, and a second major surface opposing the first major surface. In one more embodiments, the plurality of separate mechanical retainers are attached to the second major surface of the cold-formed glass substrate. The mechanical retainers may be attached to the frame to define a position for each of the plurality of mechanical retainers, such that the mechanical retainers define the curved shape. Embodiments of processes to form such articles are also provided. Such processes can include attaching a plurality of separate mechanical retainers to a flexible glass substrate such that the glass substrate maintains its flexibility, and attaching the mechanical retainers to a frame, such that the mechanical retainers attached to the frame define a cold-formed curved shape for the flexible glass substrate.

Abstract: Embodiments of a deadfront (106) configured to hide a display unit in an automotive interior when the display unit is not active are provided. The deadfront (106) includes a substrate (120) having a first major surface (128) and a second major surface (126). The second major surface is opposite the first major surface. The deadfront also includes a neutral density filter (122) disposed on the second major surface (126) of the transparent substrate (120) and a colorant layer (124) disposed on the neutral density filter (122). The deadfront defines at least one display region (132) in which the deadfront transmits at least 60% of incident light and at least one non-display region (134) in which the deadfront transmits at most 5% of incident light. A contrast sensitivity between each of the at least one display region and each of the at least one non-display region is at least 15 when the display unit is not active.

The 3D printed surface feature(s) may be formed of a contiguous preformed material 3D printed on a surface of a substrate. The compressive stress region of a 3D printed surface feature may be formed using an ion-exchange process.
