Abstract:
A video game is provided for a mobile handset that includes a plurality of pre-rendered 3-dimensional images. The video game includes a background image comprising a substantially 360-degree landscape. The video game also includes a game engine that is operable for video game play to position a player in a substantially centered position such that the substantially 360-degree landscape of the background image is displayed on a display of the mobile handset to surround a player view as the player rotates using directional keys of the mobile handset about the substantially centered position. The game engine further provides at least some of the plurality of pre-rendered 3-dimensional images displayed on the display about the substantially 360-degree landscape.
Abstract:
A system for 3-dimensional gaming on a mobile handset is provided. The system includes a converter component operable to convert a pre-rendered 3-dimensional graphic image having 24-bit color resolution to a 3-dimensional graphic image having 16-bit color resolution. The component further operable such that the 3-dimensional graphic image having 16-bit color resolution is run length encoded. The system includes a mobile handset game operable to use the 3-dimensional run length encoded graphic image having 16-bit color resolution for display on a handset as part of the mobile handset game.
Abstract:
A computerized method for collecting information on geo-spatially distributed assets. The method includes managed workflow so that work crews are automatically informed of the work that needs to be done and can report back to management when the work is completed. Mobile workers use a network-disconnected mobile computing device for data collection that includes a GPS receiver for use in generating a map showing the user's position in relation to the asset. An asset attribute database having a vertical database schema permits live-entry of the collected data without the need for confirmation, thereby speeding data entry and reducing the likelihood of data loss in the event of power failure, etc. The vertical database schema also permits data collection forms to be changed without updating the underlying database structure. The vertical database schema is converted to a relational database schema for management reporting purposes.
Abstract:
A process for the preparation of a package containing a compacted particulate composition, comprising: a. placing a compacted particulate composition on a first film; b. positioning a second film over said composition; and c. sealing said first film to said second film and at least partly evacuating the atmosphere from the inside of said package so as to allow said first film and said second film to cling to said composition.
Abstract:
A method of pre-distorting a signal of a satellite transmission link so as to offset later transmission of the signal during transmission across the satellite transmission link has a link including route Nyquist band pass filters in up and down links. The signal is passed through a cascade of identical pre-distorting stages each of which generates an approximation of the required pre-distortion. Each successive stage receives the approximation from the preceding stage so that errors in successive approximations converge towards zero.
Abstract:
Formulations have been developed for pulmonary delivery to treat or reduce the infectivity of diseases such as viral infections, especially tuberculosis, SARS, influenza and respiratory synticial virus in humans and hoof and mouth disease in animals, or to reduce the symptoms of allergy or other pulmonary disease. Formulations for pulmonary administration include a material that significantly alters physical properties such as surface tension and surface elasticity of lung mucus lining fluid, which may be isotonic saline and, optionally, a carrier. The formulation may be administered as a liquid solution, suspension, aerosol, or powder where the particles consist basically of an osmotically active solute. Drugs, especially antivirals or antibiotics, may optionally be included with the formulation. These may be administered with or incorporated into the formulation.
Abstract:
An optical wireless local area network using line of sight optical links. The base station and terminal stations are provided with optical transceivers which include a transmitter array and detector array. The transmitter array consists of an array of resonant cavity light emitting diodes integrated using flip-chip technology with a CMOS driver circuit. The driver circuit includes constant bias, current peaking and charge extraction. The driver circuitry is compact and can be confined within a region underlying the corresponding light source. The detector array consists of an array of photo diodes, provided with sense circuitry consisting of a pre-amplifier and post-amplifier. The diodes and sense circuitry are also integrated using a flip-chip technique. The light emitter and the detector may include adaptive optical elements to steer and/or focus the light beams.
Abstract:
A method of embossing a sheet material includes: heating at least a portion of the sheet directly or indirectly with radiant energy from a radiant energy source; pressing a tool against the heated portion of the sheet, thereby patterning a surface of the sheet; and separating the sheet and the tool. The radiant energy may travel through a solid material that is relatively transparent to radiation, on its way to being absorbed by a relatively-absorptive material. The relatively-transparent material may be an unheated portion of the sheet, and the relatively-absorptive material may be either the tool or the heated portion of the sheet. Alternatively, the relatively-transparent material may be the tool, and the relatively-absorptive material may be all or part of the sheet. The method may be performed as one or more roll-to-roll operations.
Abstract:
Improved aerodynamically light particles for drug delivery to the pulmonary system, and methods for their synthesis and administration are provided. In a preferred embodiment, the aerodynamically light particles are made of biodegradable material and have a tap density of less than 0.4 g/cm3 and a mass mean diameter between 5 μm and 30 μm. The particles may be formed of biodegradable materials such as biodegradable polymers. For example, the particles may be formed of a functionalized polyester graft copolymer consisting of a linear α-hydroxy-acid polyester backbone having at least one amino acid group incorporated therein and at least one poly(amino acid) side chain extending from an amino acid group in the polyester backbone. In one embodiment, aerodynamically light particles having a large mean diameter, for example greater than 5 μm, can be used for enhanced delivery of a therapeutic agent to the alveolar region of the lung. The aerodynamically light particles incorporating a therapeutic agent may be effectively aerosolized for administration to the respiratory tract to permit systemic or local delivery of wide variety of therapeutic agents.
Abstract:
A cargo protecting system for a pickup truck includes a metal support structure that is in a fixed position relative to a pickup truck. A bed floor is fixedly supported by the metal support structure, and the bed floor includes a first support surface for directly supporting cargo, wherein the first support surface is substantially coplanar with a plane. A first chamber is disposed substantially beneath the plane and can be defined by a first shell having first and second openings. The first chamber is accessible from above the plane through the first opening, and the first and second openings can be of sufficient size and dimension to allow the passage of a spare tire. Exemplary embodiments can include a second chamber disposed substantially directly beneath the bed floor and adjacent to the second opening, wherein the second chamber is separate from the first chamber and accessible from the first chamber through the second opening. The second chamber can be configured to provide a storage location directly beneath the bed floor for substantially an entire spare tire. In certain exemplary embodiments, a closure member might be provided along with a securement mechanism and an opening mechanism.
