    摘要: A method and apparatus for adjusting fly height between a disc surface of a magnetic storage system disc and a slider supported on a flexure arm in a magnetic disc drive. The slider carries a transducing head. The disc drive is rotated at a reduced testing RPM. The flexure arm is heated using a laser to achieve a desired flexure arm bend which corresponds to a desired fly height. Desired bend is achieved at the point when the slider is just in contact with asperities on the disc surface. Following heating, the disc is operated at a normal RPM rate of rotation which is greater than the testing RPM, thereby insuring that the slider flies in close proximity to the disc surface but without contacting the disc surface. Contact between the slider and the disc surface is determined by detecting acoustic noise on the flexure arm.

    摘要: The present invention is a coin sorter apparatus for sorting a group of mixed coins by denomination and immediately terminating the sorting process in response to a predetermined operating condition, such as the filling of a coin receptacle with a predetermined number of coins. Sorting is provided by a stationary sorting head and a rotatable disc positioned sufficiently proximate to one another so that when the group of mixed coins are dropped into the center opening of the stationary sorting head, they are rotated by the rotating disc and guided by the sorting head on a outward spiral sorting path to exit channels along the periphery of the stationary sorting head. Each of the exit channels acts as an exit chute for a particular coin denomination by releasing pressure on that particular coin and freeing the coin to move outwardly along the exit channel and exit into a coin receptacle. At the moment of the predetermined operating condition, a braking mechanism immediately stops the rotation of the rotatable disc, and the coins within an exit channel exit through the exit channel due to the inertia of the coins.

    摘要: An upright cordless grass trimmer incorporated incoporates fixed multi-toothed bottom blade and plural sets of top blades which oscillate over the bottom blade to achieve cutting. The sets of top blades are driven by a motor through a gear and cam mechanism and are synchronized so that one top blade set cuts at a different time in the cycle from the other set to achieve a counterbalancing and load leveling effect. A clutch mechanism absorbs abrupt blade stoppage and shock situations and a rechargeable battery pack is releasably received by an elevated cavity in a shroud which mounts over the motor and drive mechanism. An upright handle and electrical control means are attached to the trimmer which allows the operator to operate the trimmer in an upright position.

The improved blade construction finds application in shears, particularly cordless, i.e., battery, grass shears, by more nearly equalizing incremental power requirements; by reducing the maximum input power requirements; and by increasing time of performance between battery recharging at a given forward advancement speed of the shear.
