    摘要: A substrate for use in an ink jet recording head includes a plurality of heat generating resistive members formed on the substrate, a wiring pattern formed to be electrically connected with the heat generating resistive members, and a protection film formed on the heat generating resistive members and the wiring pattern to protect them from ink, and then, a vertically turn-up wiring structure is formed with an insulation film formed on the substrate, and one side of the wiring connected with the heat generating resistive members is arranged immediately below the heat generating resistive members in a width and a length larger than that of heat generating resistive members with the insulation film between them. For this substrate, the heat generating resistive members and the wiring positioned immediately below them are formed by polysilicon having impurities in different densities. With the structure thus arranged, it becomes possible to form the vertically turn-up wiring structure for heat generating resistive members arranged at pitches in high density using polysilicon.

    摘要: A substrate for use of an ink jet head that constitutes an ink jet head includes a plurality of discharge ports for discharging liquid, a plurality of liquid flow paths communicated with the plurality of discharge ports, and first and second heat generating device arranged serially in the liquid flow paths in the flow path direction of the liquid flow paths for generating thermal energy which is utilized for discharging liquid in the liquid flow paths from the discharge ports, the first and second heat generating device being formed on the substrate. For this substrate, the first and second heat generating device are driven at driving frequencies of 4 kHz or more, and the first heat generating device are arranged in parallel in the direction perpendicular to the flow path direction of the liquid flow paths, and at the same time, structured with a plurality of heat generating resistive members electrically connected in series, and the second heat generating device is structured with at least one heat generating resistive member. With the structure thus arranged, this substrate makes it possible not only to stabilize liquid discharges even for the execution of a multi-valued recording, but also, provide the heat generating resistive members and liquid flow paths in higher densities.

    摘要: A printhead, constructed with a plurality of common-type element substrates which sandwich a connecting board, which performs printing by utilizing a common-type control signal. The element substrate integrates: a plurality of heaters 101 which are arrayed in one line, power transistors 102, a shift register 104, a latch circuit 117, an AND circuit 119, terminals 114 to 116 for inputting block-selection signals, a terminal 120 for inputting an inverse instruction signal which instructs to invert the block selection signal, a block inverter 121 for inverting the block-selection signal in accordance with the inverse instruction signal, and a 3 to 8 decoder 118 for selecting one of a plurality of blocks. By utilizing a printhead where at least two of the element substrate are arranged opposite to each other, and where plural arrays of printing elements are formed, printing is performed by dividing a plurality of printing elements into a plurality of blocks and time-divisionally driving each block. When this printing is performed, the inverse instruction signal inverts the order of block selection which has been inverted because of the element substrates arranged opposite to each other.
