Abstract:
Customer record systems for multinational companies advantageously store both Latin character set (language of the database user) and customer-local language forms of the information so that mailings to customers can be accomplished with printing in the local language. Further, web access by customers into their information can also be displayed in local language format from this system. Limiting the local language storage to that information that is needed to communicate to the customer in customer's location provides full access to all transactional information to the owner or user of the database. Translating all customer information into Unicode provides a single uniform database into which these mixed language records can be stored. Variations in signaling to the translation mechanism are provided so that use of local language terminals can be used.
Abstract:
A system for switching communications signals between a first communications network and a second communications network is provided. The system includes a J1 interface coupled to the first communications network by a J1 span, a E1 interface coupled to the second communications network by an E1 span, and an interface processor in communication with the J1 interface and the E1 interface. The interface processor is then operable to translate signals formatted for the J1 span into an E1 format for transmission on the El span. The interface processor is further operable to translate communications signals formatted for the E1 span into a J1 format for transmission on the J1 span.
Abstract:
A method for calibrating a multi-chip image sensor, and an imaging system having a multi-chip sensor that includes color correction factors generated by such a method. The image sensor is successively controlled to image three different test targets. After imaging each target, a set of correction factors is generated and used to correct image signals generated when imaging the next test target. A first set of correction factors corrects for pixel-to-pixel variations between imaging elements in the array. The second set of correction factors corrects for chip-to-chip variations between chips in the array. The third set of correction factors corrects for array-wide variations compared to a standard color chart.
Abstract:
An exhaust vent for venting exhaust air from an electronic chassis includes a body portion having a length. The body portion is mounted to the electronic chassis. The body portion includes an upper portion that extends along the length of the body portion and a lower portion that also extends along the length of the body portion. The upper portion includes a deflector portion and the lower portion includes a curved portion. The deflector portion of the upper portion and the curved portion of the lower portion define an exhaust opening in the body portion to allow the exhaust air from the electronic chassis to pass through the exhaust opening in a downward direction and to conceal an inside portion of the electronic chassis.
Abstract:
A form of symbolic logic gate, referred to as don't.sub.-- care logic, provides a construct that does not have a technology primitive correspondent, and that is useful for carrying valuable additional information to logic synthesis and/or logic optimization processes. Thus, a logic optimization process may proceed more effectively when presented with such don't.sub.-- care information because, e.g. overlapping combinational logic is simplified (but not always eliminated) and dependency (i.e. shared combinational logic) is resolved between the data input and the enable input. The don't.sub.-- care gate is readily generalized, such that it can be applied for any technology primitives that have an enable line input, where there is potential shared combinational logic between the data input (or any inputs) and the enable input. Such category may include technology primitives, such as a latch, a D.sub.-- flip.sub.-- flop, and a tri-state element.
Abstract:
A catheter assembly (2) includes a proximal end assembly (4), with four slidable movable manipulators (12, 14, 16, 18) and a bowing catheter (6) extending from the proximal end assembly. The bowing catheter includes an elongate, flexible catheter body (24), having a tip portion (30) carrying electrodes (32), first and second elongate push/pull manipulator wires (26, 28), and a sheath (22) housing the catheter body and manipulator wires. The sheath, catheter body and manipulator wires are each coupled to a manipulator. The manipulator wires are connected to positions (40, 42) on either side of a stiff tip segment (43). The manipulator wires have sufficient columnar strength/stiffness to maintain the tip segment at a range of relatively stable orientations to cause the bowed tip to be deflected in in-plane and out-of-plane deflections.
Abstract:
An implantable bipolar pacing lead having a bipolar active fixation electrode for use with a cardiac pacemaker. The bipolar active fixation electrode may include a pair of coaxial electrodes, separated by an intermediate insulator, formed into the shape of a helix. The bipolar electrode helix is preferably advanceable from a distal end of the bipolar pacing lead.
Abstract:
A suture sleeve for anchoring the lead body of an implantable medical device includes a tubular body having an exterior surface defining at least one annular, suture-receiving groove. The exterior surface further includes at least one longitudinally extending groove intersecting the at least one annular suture receiving groove and having ends extending longitudinally beyond the at least one suture receiving groove. The interior surface of the tubular body includes a plurality of inwardly extending projections having surfaces adapted to engage the lead body to prevent the sleeve from sliding along the lead body when the lead body is held vertically. The suture sleeve is fabricated of a biocompatible, polymeric material to which has been added color pigment and a radiologically dense material to render the suture sleeve readily visible to the naked eye against surrounding bodily tissue as well as radiologically visible.
Abstract:
A device comprises a vertical transistor. The vertical transistor comprises a semiconductive pillar, at least one gate electrode, a gate dielectric material, and void spaces. The semiconductive pillar comprises a source region, a drain region, and a channel region extending vertically between the source region and the drain region, the channel region comprising a semiconductive material having a band gap greater than 1.65 electronvolts. The at least one gate electrode laterally neighbors the semiconductive pillar. The gate dielectric material is laterally between the semiconductive pillar and the at least one gate electrode. The void spaces are vertically adjacent the gate dielectric material and laterally intervening between the at least one gate electrode and each of the source region and the drain region of the semiconductive pillar. Related electronic systems and methods are also disclosed.
