Abstract: A transmitter/receiver pair may estimate a first channel interference caused during the spatial reuse phase by the transmitter/receiver pair to other transmitter/receiver pairs over a channel. A second channel interference experienced by the transmitter/receiver pair may be estimated during the spatial reuse phase by the transmitter/receiver pair from the other transmitter/receiver pairs. An interference margin may be estimated for the channel based on the first and second channel interferences. The interference margin may be announced to the other transmitter/receiver pairs in frame. The interference margin may then be complied with while communicating over the channel in order to control the interference.

Abstract: Embodiments of master station and method for high-efficiency WLAN (HEW) communication are generally described herein. In some embodiments, the master station is configured for HEW communication in accordance with an IEEE 802.11ax technique. The master station may transmit an indication to one or more of a plurality of HEW stations to indicate which one of a plurality of 20 MHz channels to monitor for a HEW signal field. The master station may configure the HEW signal field to indicate which of a plurality of subchannels of the indicated 20 MHz channel is allocated to the HEW stations for communication. The master station may transmit the configured HEW signal field in the indicated one of the 20 MHz channels and may communicate with the HEW stations on the indicated subchannels in accordance with an orthogonal-frequency divisional multiple access (OFDMA) technique.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable media for classification of basic service sets (BSS) based on transmission opportunity holder addresses are disclosed. Abstract: Wireless devices, methods, and computer-readable media for transmitting and receiving high-efficiency signal fields. An access point (AP) may include circuitry configured to determine a high-efficiency signal (HE-SIG) field for each of a plurality of sub-channels, wherein each HE-SIG field includes a common part and a sub-channel specific part. The circuitry may be further configured to transmit, in accordance with orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), on each of the plurality of sub-channels, a corresponding HE-SIG field as a preamble to a physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU), wherein the sub-channel specific part of the corresponding HE-SIG field includes a resource map field that enables a HEW device to determine which portion of the PPDU to demodulate, and wherein the common portion includes information of a format of the PPDU. A HEW device may include circuitry configured to demodulate a PPDU based on a HE-SIG field.

A HEW device comprising circuitry is disclosed. The circuitry may be configured to: receive a L-SIG field; receive a R-L-SIG field; and determine whether the R-L-SIG field is a repeat of the L-SIG field with piggybacked information.

Abstract: Apparatus, computer readable medium, and methods for initiating uplink multi-user medium access in high-efficiency wireless local-area networks (WLANs) are disclosed. A station is disclosed comprising circuitry configured to generate a trigger frame comprising one or more resource allocations. Each of the resource allocations may include an indication of whether the resource allocation is an orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) resource allocation or a multiple-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) resource allocation. An identity either of an OFDMA group or an MU-MIMO group may be included. Each resource allocation may include an indication of a bandwidth for the OFDMA resource allocation or a bandwidth for the MU-MIMO resource allocation. Each OFDMA resource allocation may include one or more indications of an address of one or more HE stations and one or more indications of an OFDMA sub-channel resource allocation for the corresponding HE station.

Abstract: Wireless device, method, and computer readable media for compressed media access control header and/or compressed acknowledgement are disclosed. The wireless device may include circuitry configured to transmit a media access control (MAC) protocol data unit (MPDU) delimiter with a field that indicates a subsequent MAC header is a compressed MAC header, and transmit a compressed MAC frame with the compressed MAC header. The compressed MAC header does not include one or more of the following group: duration, receive address, and transmit address. The circuitry may be further configured to receive a schedule in a transmission opportunity and receive a second compressed MAC frame. The circuitry may be further configured to determine that the receive address field is an address of the HEW device based on the schedule and determine that the receive address field is an address of an access point that transmitted the schedule based on the schedule.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for random access to a wireless network are described herein. Components of a wireless station may obtain a back-off value. The components may also decode random access resource units from a frame transmitted to the wireless station from an access point of the wireless network. The components may decrement the back-off for each decoded random access frame. The wireless station may select this frame from a sequence of frames when the back-off reaches zero while decoding the random access resource units of this frame. The wireless station then selects the random access resource unit with a more favorable transmission metric than another random access resource unit of the frame and uses the selected random access resource unit to communicate with the access point.

Abstract: Apparatus, computer readable medium, and method for generating and receiving signal fields in a high efficiency wireless local-area network (WLAN) are disclosed. A high-efficiency wireless local-area network (HEW) device including circuitry is disclosed. The circuitry may be configured to: receive a physical (PHY) header or media access control (MAC) header from a second HEW station, wherein the PHY header or MAC header comprises an indication of a spatial reuse opportunity and a defer duration; adjust one or more parameters to determine whether or not the wireless medium is in use; and determine whether to transmit within the spatial reuse opportunity based on the adjusted one or more parameters. The circuitry may be configured to adjust one or more parameters to determine whether or not the wireless medium is in use in where the parameters are signal detect (SD) threshold, a mid-packet detection (MPD) threshold, and an energy detection (ED) threshold.
