A spray applicator to discharge plaster or another texturizing material in a spray pattern against a wall surface or the like. There is a manually operated air cylinder and piston assembly which discharges pressurized air through a first nozzle, with an air jet traveling through an area where the plaster or the material descends from a container, with the air jet carrying some of the plaster through a forward discharge nozzle to cause a spray pattern. There is a rotatable adjusting sleeve which moves the two nozzles further apart or closer together to control the spray pattern and also to close the discharge nozzle.

A system for dispensing texture material comprises a main container, an outlet assembly, and an aerosol valve assembly. The main container stores texture material and pressurized propellant material. The aerosol valve assembly is arranged to allow control of fluid flowing out of the main container. The outlet assembly is configured such that the cross-sectional area of the outlet opening corresponds to the desired pattern. The aerosol valve assembly is operated to allow the pressurized propellant material to force the texture material out of the main container through the outlet opening defined by the outlet assembly. The texture material forced out of the main container is deposited on the target surface in the desired pattern.

A system for dispensing texture material onto a target surface in a desired pattern that substantially matches an existing pattern on the target surface including a main container, an outlet assembly, a secondary container, a conduit, and a valve. The main container stores texture material. The outlet assembly defines an outlet opening a cross-sectional area of which is alterable. The secondary container stores pressurized propellant material. The conduit is operatively connected between the main container and the secondary container. The valve is arranged to allow control of fluid between the main container and the secondary container. The outlet assembly is configured such that the cross-sectional area of the outlet opening corresponds to the desired pattern. The valve is operated such that the texture material is forced out of the main container through the outlet opening defined by the outlet assembly and deposited on the target surface in the desired texture pattern.

Abstract:
An aerosol device for dispensing texture material for matching existing acoustical ceiling texture. The device comprises a container, a valve assembly, a dispensing nozzle, a hardenable material, and pressurized inert gas as a propelling mechanism. The hardenable material and pressurized inert gas are placed into the container. When the valve assembly is opened, the inert gas forces the hardenable material out of the container through the dispensing nozzle. The dispensing nozzle diverts at least a portion of the hardenable material exiting the container to develop a spray suitable for the application of the hardenable material onto the ceiling surface being textured. The hardenable material preferably comprises at least water, filler, binder, and polystyrene particles. The inert gas is preferably nitrogen.

A dispensing assembly for an aerosol system for dispensing liquid material. The dispensing assembly comprises a base member defining an alignment groove, an actuator member defining a plurality of finger portions, an outlet member defining an outlet opening, a selector member defining a flange portion and a selector threaded portion, and a collar member defining an opening surface and a collar threaded portion. The outlet member is arranged within the plurality of finger portions such that the actuator member and the outlet member define a dispensing path in fluid communication with the outlet opening. The collar member engages the actuator member such that the opening surface is adjacent to the finger portions. The selector threaded portion engages the collar threaded portion. The flange portion of the selector is arranged within at least a portion of the alignment groove. Angular rotation of the selector member relative to the collar member displaces the collar member to deform the outlet member and thus alter a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.

An aerosol assembly for dispensing texture material. The aerosol assembly comprises a container, a valve assembly, an actuator member, and at least one outlet member. A stem portion of the actuator member engages a stem recess formed in a valve member to fix the actuator member relative to the container during normal use of the aerosol system. The valve assembly comprises a valve spring that biases the actuator member against a valve seat to place the valve assembly into a closed configuration. Applying a force to the actuator member compresses the valve spring to place the valve assembly into an open configuration. When the valve assembly is in the closed configuration, fluid is substantially prevented from flowing through an actuator passageway. When the valve assembly is in the open configuration, fluid may flow out of the container through the actuator passageway.

The nozzle assembly comprises an actuator member, at least one outlet member, and an outlet structure. The actuator member has a stem portion adapted to engage the aerosol system, an actuator opening, and an actuator passageway for allowing fluid to flow between the stem portion and the actuator opening. The at least one outlet member defines at least one outlet opening. The outlet structure secures the at least one outlet member to the actuator member. The at least one outlet member may be configured such that the outlet opening defines a plurality of cross-sectional areas each corresponding to a predetermined texture pattern. One of the cross-sectional areas is a selected cross-sectional area. The predetermined texture pattern associated with the selected cross-sectional area substantially matches the existing texture pattern. The outlet structure allows the at least one outlet member to be configured such that the fluid flows through the actuator passageway, the outlet passageway, and the outlet opening.

The texture material is arranged within the product chamber. The propellant is arranged within the product chamber to pressurize the texture material. The outlet structure defines an outlet orifice. The outlet structure is fixed relative to the actuator member such that fluid flowing along a fluid path flows through the outlet orifice and onto a surface in the desired texture pattern.
