Abstract:
A method of producing a desired non-spidroin protein or polypeptide is comprising the steps of expressing in a suitable host a fusion protein, obtaining a mixture containing the fusion protein, and optionally isolating the fusion protein. The fusion protein is comprising at least one solubility-enhancing moiety which is derived from the N-terminal (NT) fragment of a spider silk protein. It is further comprising at least one moiety which is a desired non-spidroin protein or polypeptide. Each solubility-enhancing moiety is linked directly or indirectly to the desired protein or polypeptide moiety.
Abstract:
Gear milling cutter with replaceable milling inserts mounted on flank sides. Some are root inserts placed in tangentially spaced-apart positions along the periphery of the basic body; others are flank inserts tangentially spaced-apart and in ring formation radially inside the root inserts. Sweep areas of radially separated inserts overlap in a ring-shaped overlapping zone by radially inner ends of root inserts being situated nearer the center axis than radially outer ends of the flank insert next inside. A part edge of the cutting edge, located between the straight main edge and one of the ends of the insert is shorter than the main edge and deviates from a straight reference line in the extension of the main edge at a deviation angle of at most 10°. Cutting edges of root inserts overlap cutting edges of flank inserts in a point of intersection situated between end points of the part edges.
Abstract:
A robust method of page indication (PI) detection improves the probability of detecting a transmitted PI under conditions that decrease the probability of accurate PI detection. The method includes choosing a standard value of a PI threshold against which to compare accumulated PI bits when the probability of correctly detecting the PI is high, and choosing a derived value of the PI threshold lower than the standard value when the probability of correctly detecting the PI is low. The derived PI threshold value determination includes a factor indicative of a desired probability of accurate PI detection.

Abstract:
An isolated protein selected from the group consisting of (i) proteins comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 70% identity to the C-terminal domain of lung surfactant protein C precursor (CTproSP-C, “CTC”) from a mammal; and (ii) proteins comprising an amino acid sequence having at least 70% identity to the Brichos domain of CTproSP-C from a mammal, is disclosed for treatment of Alzheimer's disease in a mammal, including man.
Abstract:
The invention provides an isolated major ampullate spidroin protein, which consists of from 150 to 420 amino acid residues and is defined by the formula KEP-CT. KEP is a repetitive, N-terminally derived protein fragment having from 80 to 300 amino acid residues. CT is a C-terminally derived protein fragment having from 70 to 120 amino acid residues. The invention further provides an isolated fusion protein consisting of a first protein fragment, which is a major ampullate spidroin protein, and a second protein fragment comprising a fusion partner and a cleavage agent recognition site. The first protein fragment is coupled via said cleavage agent recognition site to the fusion partner. The invention also provides a method of producing a major ampullate spidroin protein and polymers thereof.

Abstract:
A dental instrument, suitable for use when creating a dental filling is provided. The dental instrument comprises a wedge and a matrix. The matrix is fixedly attached to the wedge, and the wedge is adapted to be inserted into the approximal space between two teeth of a patient. The wedge comprises a bow shape along a length axis of the wedge, the matrix comprises a first bow shape along a length axis of the matrix, and the matrix comprises a second bow shape along an axis perpendicular to the length axis of the matrix. A method of using the dental instrument and a disposable system, which further comprises a protective member, is further provided.
Abstract:
An indexable milling insert, including an upperside, an underside parallel to an imaginary reference plane, and two cutting edges. Each cutting edge includes a cutting edge line and is formed between a chip surface included in the upperside and a first clearance surface extending between the upperside and the underside, the first clearance surface forming an acute, nominal first clearance angle (α) with a normal to the reference plane. Each cutting edge includes a main edge, which is at least partly convexly curved as viewed in plane elevation from above, and which extends from an initial end, which determines the maximal cutting depth of the milling insert, to a corner edge having a radius of curvature that is smaller than the radius of curvature of the main edge, the main edge rising in the direction from the initial end toward the corner edge such that the distance thereof to the underside successively increases in the direction. A second clearance surface is formed between the cutting edge line and the first clearance surface, the second clearance surface having a width of at most 0.3 mm and a nominal second clearance angle (λ) that is smaller than the first clearance angle. The second clearance surface is of uniform width and the second clearance angle decreases successively in the direction from the initial end toward the corner edge.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a family of non-naturally occurring polypeptides having cholesterol efflux activity that parallels that of full-length apolipoproteins (e.g., Apo AI and Apo E), and having high selectivity for ABAC1 that parallels that of full-length apolipoproteins. The invention also provides compositions comprising such polypeptides, methods of identifying, screening and synthesizing such polypeptides, and methods of treating, preventing or diagnosing diseases and disorders associated with dyslipidemia, hypercholesterolemia and inflammation.
