    摘要: The unassembled patch connector comprises multiple or a single, housing (prefereably molded) having a centrally located hinge or other positive locating features for joining the two oppositely disposed housing portions. The housing portions are snapped together to define a substantially rectangular housing having two, four, six or eight openings on a front face thereof for accessing terminals from a terminal block; and at least one other opening on the back face thereof for entry and exit of a cable or individual wires. The interior of the housing is provided with cavities for retaining isolated conductors, these conductors communicating with the back face opening for electrical and mechanical connection with insulated wire and communicating with the front face opening for electrical and mechanical connection with terminals from a terminal block. Among other applications, the patch connector may be used as a means to electrically connect multiple stranded or solid wires on terminals of a terminal block such as a 66-type terminal block used in the telephone industry.

    摘要: An apparatus for releasably securing mating electrical connectors is presented which employs a bracket having an apertured portion which is sized and shaped to circumscribe the mating portions of the connectors. In a first embodiment, the bracket has a pair of opposed arm portions extending therefrom with at least one slot centrally located on one of the arms and a pair of opposed open ended slots on the other arm. A self-locking strap is secured to the centrally located slot. In use, after the bracket has been placed on the first connector and the mating connector is joined thereto, the self-locking strap will be wound tightly around the mating connector through the two open-ended slots; and locked to itself to thereby retain the connectors in the engaged condition. The connectors may be disengaged merely by applying sufficient force to the strap so as to unlock it from itself. In a second embodiment, the bracket includes a pair of opposed arm portions extending therefrom with at least one slot centrally located on one of the arms and a pair of mating opposed closed slots on the other arm. A forked self-locking strap is attached to each of the pair of opposed slots and looped through the single closed slot on the opposing side as a means for securing the mated connector.

    摘要: A switching jack for use with a circuit board. The switching jack includes a housing having a single opening for receiving a standard plug. Within the housing is a contact carrier which holds a plurality of resilient conductive pins. The resilient conductive pins extend angularly through an open area in the housing and extend out from the rear surface of the jack. When the jack is mounted to a circuit board the resilient conductive pins contact grooved contacts formed in the circuit board. The electrical connections between the resilient conductive pins and the grooved contacts is interrupted when a plug is placed in the jack.

    摘要: A cable management enclosure for providing neat, organized installation of cable (such as fiber optic or copper) and providing easy access to the cable for maintenance. The cable management enclosure provides an area for managing cabling at the work area (an area located close in proximity to the station equipment, which includes telephones, data terminals, and computers) by providing a connection point for 2, 4, or 6 fiber connectors utilizing slide-in adapter panels. There are also provisions for copper connections with the integration of a single-gang faceplate which can be mounted directly to the cable management enclosure cover to accommodate up to 6 modular jacks. The base of the cable management enclosure provides incoming fiber cable strain relief plus storage and management of up to 1 meter of slack for as many as 6 fibers. A cover snaps onto the base to provide dust-proofing and protection for the fibers. A concealed cover-to-base screw accommodation is included for added security if desired. Molded-in icon pockets permit fiber port identification with the use of color-coded, snap-in icons.

The connecting block of this invention may be mounted directly onto (e.g., through) a printed circuit board (or other electronic component). It will be appreciated that this circuit mountable feature is required and advantageous for many applications. In addition, the use of a solderless connector means (preferably a press-fit tail) is particularly advantageous for providing ease of assembly as well as lower cost (relative to conventional solderable tails).
