The private short-range wireless network may be converted into a semi-private short range wireless network by managing access to the network in accordance with rules defined by a home user. Restricted access may be enforced when the home user is present, and security measures may force the semi-private short-range wireless network to enter a safe mode when a condition is met.

In one variant of the invention, detection occurs as a result of a travel plan notification that the terminal device is planned to be away from the home location. In another variant, detection occurs by determining that the terminal device is, in fact, away from the home location.

    摘要: A modified unacknowledge mode of a telecommunications system interface is defined by providing for a special signaling indication by way of a selected packet, signaling sequence, message, or the like, from a transmitting side to a receiving side that a given message, packet, cell, signaling sequence, or the like is to be treated specially, despite the unacknowledge mode being used, by acknowledging receipt thereof at the receiving side back to the transmitting side. In this way, certain important messages can be acknowledged, while less important messages can be sent without acknowledgement. This reduces the need for wasteful use of capacity for applications in which some of the messages are more important than others to be received correctly.
