摘要： Positions of non-reference wireless transceivers to be added to a wireless communication network are determined as follows. Each non-reference wireless transceiver performs measurements of times of arrival (TOA) of signals transmitted by other non-reference wireless transceivers, as well as reference wireless transceivers. Thereafter, time difference of arrival (TDOA) values are computed from at least two types of pairs of measurements as follows: (a) unknown-unknown TDOA values are obtained as differences between TOA measurements of signals transmitted by non-reference wireless transceivers and (b) unknown-known TDOA values are obtained as differences between a TOA measurement of a signal transmitted by a non-reference wireless transceiver and another TOA measurement of another signal transmitted by a reference wireless transceiver. Both types of TDOA values are used to solve simultaneous equations to identify the positions of the non-reference wireless transceivers and optionally times of transmission of the signals by the non-reference wireless transceivers.

The embodiments described herein may use the LPP/LPPe positioning protocol, by making use of existing unsolicited Provide Assistance Data (PAD) messages. Embodiments avoid the need to define and implement a separate broadcast Assistance Data protocol. Additional exemplary embodiments for scheduling and verifying of the broadcast Assistance Data messages are described herein.

In an aspect, a message is prepared and transmitted with a message segment including a version of a protocol used to encode the message and a compatibility level associated with inter-operable protocol versions, wherein different compatibility levels indicate non-compatibility between protocol versions. In another aspect, a message is received with a message segment including a version of a protocol used to encode the message and a compatibility level associated with inter-operable protocol versions, wherein different compatibility levels indicate non-compatibility between protocol versions. The compatibility level included in the received message is compared to an internal compatibility level and a response message is prepared and transmitted with a message segment including the internal compatibility level.

摘要： In a particular embodiment, a method includes receiving a first set and a second set of location data at a mobile device. The method includes locating a first reference point identifier that is included in the first set of location data and a second reference point identifier that is included in the second set of location data. The first reference point identifier field and the second reference point identifier field identify a common reference point. The method includes identifying first information in the first set of location data that is associated with the common reference point. The method also includes identifying second information in the second set of location data that is associated with the common reference point and spatially aligning the first set of location data with the second set of location data based on the common reference point to associate the first information with the second information.

A position estimate is computed based on assistance data intended for a first position method. The mobile device ignores if a second positioning method is not specifically supported by a network and computes a position estimate using the second position method and a subset of assistance data intended for the first positioning method, which is supported by the network and is different from the second positioning method.
