摘要： A pressurized screening device has an inlet arrangement by which a feed slurry is directed to a central portion of a screening chamber, a plurality of chevron-shaped rotor foils are mounted for rotation near the inner surface of a cylindrical screenplate to split the flow of the feed slurry into separate flow portions directed toward opposite ends of the screening chamber, and separate reject chambers are provided adjacent its opposite ends of its screening chamber. The chevron-shaped foil structure enables the screening device to operate as if it were two smaller screening devices and to remove efficiently both light and heavy impurities from the feed stock.

摘要： A thickener apparatus includes a shaftless cylinder mold having a perforated cylindrical shell supported by two end members one of which is an open frame structure having radially extending support beams interconnecting a short rotational shaft aligned with the axial center of rotation of the cylinder, and a peripheral ring member which supports the shell of the cylinder mold. The shell is sufficiently rigid to be self supporting and has a backing cloth overly covering the perforated portion of the cylinder, and a face cloth covering the backing cloth, both of which act as a screen to permit the white water to collect in the central hollow portion of the cylinder mold to be subsequently discharged therefrom.

摘要： A method of screening paper fiber stock incorporating a screen member having generally circular perforations and a rotor supporting vanes movable in the supply chamber, the rotor vanes are spaced from the screen member by a substantial distance (3/16"-1/2") to establish a tubular layer of stock of corresponding radial thickness adjacent the screen member, the rotor is operated at high speed to develop strong hydraulic shear forces in the tubular layer of stock causing tangential orientation of predominantly two-dimensional contaminant particles, and ribs on the inlet side of the screen member cause the stock to be continuously recirculated in the supply chamber to prevent undue increase in the consistency of the stock in the tubular layer, thereby enabling the screen to operate effectively at high capacity and high stock consistencies.

摘要： Refining plates for disk-type refiners are manufactured with a working surface on each side thereof so that they can be turned over for reuse after one working surface has worn away. Special provision is made for mounting these plates to protect the unused working surfaces while preventing bypass flow of stock through the grooves in each working surface which is not being used, and also to compensate for a worn-out working surface when the other side of the plate is being used. Identical plates may be used on both stator and rotor; alternatively, a double-sided rotor plate can be used in combination with a hub on which it is mounted for replacement whenever the stator plates are turned over or replaced.

摘要： A deflaker for use in defibering coarse paper making stock includes a rotor and stator having frusto-conical working faces, each of which has therein one or more circumferential rows of angularly spaced pockets separated by axially extending land areas and with a circumferential land between adjacent rows of pockets, the proportions and arrangement of the parts being such that the stock is forced to travel back and forth between rotor and stator pockets as it passes through the working zone. The inlet chamber in which the rotor and stator operate is of substantially larger diameter to provide outlying space to which high specific gravity contaminant materials are directed by the centrifugal force generated by the rotor, and this action is enhanced by a cover plate on the inlet end of the rotor which has the dual function of defining with the adjacent end wall of the stator an entry slot to the working zone, and of developing additional centrifugal force further tending to prevent high specific gravity contaminant materials from reaching this inlet slot. The working faces of the rotor and stator are axially symmetrical so that the rotor can be driven in either direction to double the working life of these elements, and when it is necessary to remove and replace any of the working elements, this can be done without disturbing any piping connections by simply removing a cover plate which forms one wall of the inlet chamber.
