摘要： Described herein is a system for inducing weight loss in a patient, which comprises an extragastric space occupier positionable in contact with an exterior surface of a stomach wall to form an inward protrusion of wall into the stomach, and a retention device positionable in contact with the wall to retain the inward protrusion and to thereby capture the extragastric space occupier within the protrusion.

摘要： A medical device includes a tissue dissector and a snare loop on a common shaft. At least the distal tip of the snare loop is energizable to function as an electrosurgical element for tissue dissection. In use the snare loop is partially extended from the shaft to expose the electrosurgical element for electrosurgical dissection, and the snare loop is fully extended from the shaft to deploy the snare loop for retrieval and positioning of an implant such as a gastric banding device. The snare loop may be deployed through a pair of jaws also mounted on the shaft for use in tissue dissection.

摘要： A flexible, hermetically sealed enclosure device allows for the controlled insertion of an implantable device into the body of a patient. A series of bellows can be used to interconnect a number of rigid containers, each containing electronic or other components necessary for the implantable device. The bellows provide flexibility, columnar strength, and torqueability (for steering), while protecting the internal components. The bellows also can be welded to the containers to form a hermetic seal that can be electrically continuous, whereby standard wiring and components can be used without fear of corrosion or contamination. Such an enclosure can be used with systems such as an intravascular implantable pacing, drug delivery, or defibrillation system.

摘要： An endoscopic surgical instrument assembly including a support sheath, a miniature medical implement member, and a securing mechanism for securing the support sheath and the medical implement member together in fixed relationship. The securing mechanism is adapted for securing the miniature medical implement member and the support sheath to one another when the miniature medical implement member is advanced axially through the support sheath so that the implement member and the support sheath form a co-axial unit. As a result, the support sheath provides rigid support for the miniature medical implement member and prevents the elongated portion thereof from breaking during an endoscopic medical procedure.
