    Abstract: A communications device includes receiver circuitry, transmitter circuitry, and controller circuitry controlling the transmitter circuitry and the receiver circuitry to receive data in accordance with an automatic repeat request (ARQ) type protocol in which the data is received as a plurality of encoded data packets encoded with an error correction code and the transmitter circuitry transmits a feedback signal depending on whether each of the data encoded packets is estimated as having been decoded successfully by the receiver circuitry. The controller circuitry is configured to evaluate a quality measure of each encoded data packet and in response to the evaluated quality measure to transmit an early indication of the feedback signal to the wireless communications network, before the encoded data packet has been decoded by the error correction decoder.

    Abstract: A method performed by a communications device, the method comprising allocating a fraction of the data for transmitting to a first infrastructure equipment using a first carrier frequency, allocating a remainder of the data for transmitting to a second infrastructure equipment using a second carrier frequency, transmitting the fraction of data using the first carrier frequency and the remainder of data using the second carrier frequency, determining an attribute associated with communicating the data from the communications device to the first infrastructure equipment using the first carrier frequency based upon signals received from the first infrastructure equipment, modifying the fraction based on at least the determined attribute, and transmitting the data using at least one of the first and second carrier frequencies according to the modified fraction.

    Abstract: A method of performing cell reselection by a wireless communications device comprises measuring a signal strength of radio signals received from a serving cell, determining whether the signal strength of the signals received from the serving cell is lower than a first predetermined signal strength threshold, if the signal strength is lower than the first predetermined signal strength threshold measuring a signal strength of a neighbor cell operating on the same frequency as the serving cell to generate signal strength measurements at a first rate, and in accordance with the signal strength measurements of the neighbor cell generated at the first rate determining whether to reselect to the neighbor cell.

    Abstract: A terminal device comprises a transmitter, a receiver and a controller. The transmitter is configured to transmit a first radio signal to infrastructure equipment of a wireless telecommunications system, the first radio signal being repeatedly transmitted a predetermined number of times during each of a plurality of consecutive time periods, each of the consecutive time periods being separated by a separation time period. The receiver is configured to receive, from the infrastructure equipment during one of the separation time periods, a second radio signal that comprises an indicator indicating that transmission of the first radio signal should continue or that transmission of the first radio signal should be terminated and the second radio signal having a measurable characteristic on the basis of which the terminal device reduces an offset of a reference radio frequency of the terminal device relative to a transmission radio frequency of the infrastructure equipment.
