Abstract: The present disclosure relates 5G or pre-5G communication systems for supporting higher data transmission rate than those by LTE or other post-4G communication systems. According to the present disclosure, a method for operating a beamformed reference signal by a base station and terminal in a communication system, and the terminal, are provided. The method includes transmitting, to a terminal, control information indicating whether a first codebook is used for generating feedback information on a downlink reference signal. The first codebook is used if generating feedback information on the beamformed reference signal and is generated based on a number of antenna ports and a number of ranks.

A method for receiving a reference signal, according to the present disclosure, comprises the steps of: receiving configuration information on a reference signal; determining whether the aperiodic transmission of the reference signal is instructed on the basis of the configuration information; receiving a signal for requesting a measurement of the reference signal; measuring the reference signal on the basis of the configuration information when the received reference signal measurement request is aperiodic; generating channel state information on the basis of the measured result of the reference signal; and transmitting the channel state information.

The present disclosure relates to a method for a transmission end to estimate a channel in a communication system supporting multiple input multiple output (MIMO)-based beamforming, the method comprising: a step of obtaining a candidate channel estimate of each of a plurality of candidate beam combinations by means of a channel estimation section corresponding to each of the plurality of candidate beam combinations, the combinations consisting of at least one transmission beam and at least one reception beam from among transmission beams of the transmission end and reception beams of a reception end, wherein the channel estimation section corresponding to each of the plurality of candidate beam combinations comprises a serving channel estimation section corresponding to a serving beam combination of the transmission end and the reception end, a channel gain estimation section of one candidate beam combination of the plurality of candidate beam combinations, and a channel estimation section of the candidate beam combination; and a step of obtaining an optimal channel estimation value of the transmission end and the reception end on the basis of the obtained candidate channel estimates.

Abstract: A communication method and device using beamforming in a wireless communication system are disclosed. A base station determines according to a predetermined trigger condition and a channel state of a terminal whether to enable a beam overlap mode using an overlap beam in which a plurality of unitary beams of the base station are overlapped, selects one or more best beams from among the plurality of unitary beams if it is determined that the beam overlap mode is not enabled, and transmits or receives a signal for the terminal through the selected best beams. If it is determined that the beam overlap mode is enabled, the base station forms the overlap beam in which the plurality of unitary beams of the base station are overlapped by adjusting beamforming coefficients of a beamforming unitary and transmits or receives a signal for the terminal through the overlap beam.

Abstract: A method and apparatus perform Uplink (UL) beam tracking in a beamforming-based wireless communication system. A Mobile Station (MS) repeatedly transmits code sequences mapped respectively to MS transmit beams through each MS transmit beam as many times as the number of Base Station (BS) receive beams while sweeping the MS transmit beams. The MS receives, from a BS, transmit beam information indicating at least one best transmit beam selected from the MS transmit beams by the BS, and allocation information used to allocate UL resources for UL feedback. The MS transmits best beam information indicating the at least one best transmit beam and a MS identifier to the BS using the UL resources.

According to the present invention, a method by which a transmission device transmits a reference signal in a communication system supporting a full-dimension multiple input multiple output (FD-MIMO) mode comprises the steps of: transmitting, to a reception device, reference signals through m number of antenna ports; and transmitting, to the reception device, reference signals through n number of antenna ports, wherein the m number of antenna ports have a first polarization characteristic, the n number of antenna ports have a second polarization characteristic, the m number of antenna ports are included in a first axis of a two-dimensional space to be generated on the basis of a vertical axis and a horizontal axis of a uniform planar array (UPA) antenna, and the n number of antenna ports are included in a second axis of the two-dimensional space.
