摘要: This invention relates to a resin composition useful as a vibration-damping agent and the like. The resin composition is formulated by adding 1 wt % or more of styrenated phenol obtained by the reaction of a phenol with styrene to a polycyclic aromatic oligomer obtained by condensing a polycyclic aromatic compound containing 2 to 3 rings and formaldehyde. The polycyclic aromatic oligomer is obtained by the reaction of a polycyclic aromatic compound with formaldehyde and, if necessary, further with a phenol in the presence of an acid catalyst and has a number average molecular weight of 300–1000. The styrenated phenol is obtained by the reaction of 1 mole of a phenol with 1–2.5 moles of styrene in the presence of an acid catalyst.

摘要: This invention provides a process for purifying to a high degree of purity aromatic hydrocarbons containing impurities which are difficult to separate by distillation such as sulfur compounds and nitrogen compounds. The process of this invention for purifying aromatic hydrocarbons comprises treating crude aromatic hydrocarbons with a formaldehyde or with a formaldehyde and a phenol in the presence of an acid catalyst to form oligomers, distilling or evaporating the reaction mixture thereby separating the unreacted aromatic hydrocarbons from the oligomers, and crystallizing or washing with an organic solvent the separated aromatic hydrocarbons. In case the target hydrocarbon is naphthalene, it is possible to prepare naphthalene which has a purity of 99.9999 wt % or more, emits little odor, and can be readily flavored by perfumes. Naphthalene of this quality is used to prepare an insecticide of excellent fragrance.

摘要: A thin film magnetic head slider has a media opposing surface which is adapted to be opposed to a recording medium, and includes a sacrificial layer, on a substratum that has a surface for forming the media opposing surface having at least one rail. A tracking mechanism or loading/unloading mechanism can be provided on the slider. An electrostatic actuator suitable for driving such a mechanism includes a stationary section having a plurality of teeth parallel to each other, a movable section having a plurality of teeth parallel to the teeth of the stationary section, a support spring for supporting the movable section so that the movable section can be moved with respect to the stationary section in the tooth width direction. A drive force generator moves the movable section to a position at which an electrostatic attraction force in the tooth width direction generated when a voltage is impresses between the teeth of the stationary section and those of the movable section, is balanced with the elastic force of the head suspension.

摘要: In a method for forming a horizontal head slider having a media opposing surface flying above or coming into contact with a recording medium, a film-like surface of a head for recording/reproducing information provided in parallel to the media opposing surface, and a rail portion provided on the media opposing surface for generating a pressure for ensuring stable flying or contact. The rail portion has a planar portion and a taper portion, and all of the shaping accuracy of the bottom surface of the slider and the rail, the adhesive property to a sacrificial layer overlaid thereon and the surface smoothness of the rail surface are enhanced. When the rail portion is formed, a part of mold for the planar portion is prepared by a metallic layer 2 and a mold for the taper portion is prepared by a photoresist layer 3, and a sacrificial layer 4, a media opposing surface layer 6 and a slider body layer 6 are formed thereon in this order.

摘要: An evaporated fuel treatment device for a vehicle is provided to suppress the flowout of evaporated fuel into atmospheric air. In the evaporated fuel treatment device, a communication chamber is formed in a fuel supply cap, allowing communication between a charge passage and the inside of a fuel tank in a closed state. In the communication chamber, a positive pressure adjusting valve is openable to supply evaporated fuel in the fuel tank to an evaporated fuel storage unit through the communication chamber and the charge passage, and a negative pressure adjusting valve is openable to supply atmospheric air to the fuel tank from the evaporated fuel storage unit through the communication chamber and the charge passage. An interlocking member is provided between the key cover and the negative pressure adjusting valve, and opens the negative pressure adjusting valve in an interlocking manner with an operation of opening the key cover.
