摘要： A first polarizer transmits incident light of a first polarized direction and absorbs incident light of a polarized direction different from the first polarized direction. A birefringent film layer rotates a polarized direction of light of a predetermined wavelength to a second polarized direction different from the first polarized direction in a light transmitted through the first polarizer. A second polarizer transmits light of the first polarized direction and reflects a light of the second polarized direction in a light transmitted through the birefringent film layer. A substrate absorbs light transmitted through the second polarizer.

A display device may be an achromatic CRT. Thereby, a display device bright and large in its display screen can be realized with a simple constitution.

摘要： A data migration system that enables a database system to migrate from a network data model to a relational data model in a short development time, without degradation in data integrity. A record migration unit creates target records for the relational data model. The records are arranged in the same way as they originally were in the network data model before data migration has been made. A primary key addition unit then adds a primary key to each of the target records so that they can be uniquely identified. To preserve the original parent-child relationships between records, a relation key addition unit selects each child record from among the target records, identifies the parent of the child record by referring to the pointers added to corresponding source records, and gives a value of the primary key of the parent record to the child record as a relation key thereof. Further, a set sequence key addition unit gives set sequence keys to the child records so that they will represent a sequential order of the source records.

The unit has pixels arranged in a matrix form, which are groped into a first group and second groups to display two-dimensional image information constituting elemental images, the image information being obtained from different directions. The optical filter has a first optical opening opposed to the first pixel group and second optical openings opposed to corresponding one of the second pixel groups. The center of the first pixel group is coincident with the axis of the first opening, each center of the second pixel groups is deviated from corresponding one of the second opening axe, and the deviation is gradually increased depending on a distance between the first and the second pixel group centers. The light rays are directed to a reference plane from the first and second pixel groups through the first and second opening axes.

摘要： A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate having a transparent electrode formed on its surface and a non-aperture portion in its predetermined region, a second substrate separated from and opposed to the first substrate, a member having a color filter function and a transparent electrode formed on the second substrate, a liquid crystal layer sandwiched a between the first and second substrates, and a backlight optical system arranged on the side of the second substrate away from the first substrate. The member having a color filter function is patterned in accordance with the display unit controlled by the two transparent electrodes. This member is a color reflecting layer stack constituted by a stack of a first planar-oriented cholesteric liquid crystal layer having a first chiral pitch and a second planar-oriented cholesteric liquid crystal layer having a second chiral pitch different from the first chiral pitch. This color reflecting layer stack has a three-layered stacked region formed by further stacking a third planar-oriented cholesteric liquid crystal layer having a third chiral pitch different from the first and second chiral pitches. The three-layered stacked region corresponds to the non-aperture portion of the first substrate and has a function of returning light from the non-aperture portion to the backlight optical system.
