A method for forming an electrostatographic photoreceptor includes the steps of selecting a desired sensitivity range and a desired light intensity for a photoreceptor and forming the photoreceptor having the desired sensitivity range and desired light intensity. The photoreceptor includes a supporting substrate and a photogenerating layer including a charge generating material, formed by coating the photogenerating layer on the supporting substrate. The charge generating material is formed by a process including dispersion milling a photogenerating material for a selected period of time, selected in accordance with the desired sensitivity range and the desired light intensity, to adjust the desired sensitivity range and desired light intensity of the photoreceptor.

An electroforming process and apparatus for creating a nickel or like substrate encapsulated by another material to prevent wear to the nickel substrate. The encapsulation of the nickel substrate requires encapsulation of the inner and outer diameter of the nickel substrate. The encapsulating material must adhere to the nickel substrate. Encapsulation of the nickel substrate prevents exposure of the nickel and thus avoids the hazardous nickel dust particles that can occur when the nickel is exposed.

The process for preparing the seamless belt comprises electrochemically polymerizing onto an electrode a layer of a conductive polymeric material, followed by electrophoretically depositing a layer of a host polymer onto the layer of conductive polymeric material. Also disclosed is an imaging member comprising a substrate and a photogenerating layer, wherein the substrate comprises a laminate as described above. An imaging process which comprises incorporating into an ionographic imaging device an imaging member comprising a laminate of a conducting polymer layer and a host polymer layer as described above, generating a latent image on the imaging member by ion deposition, developing the latent image with a toner, transferring the developed image to a substrate, and permanently affixing the transferred image to the substrate is also disclosed.
