摘要: A thick organic ambipolar layer on a photoresponsive device is simultaneously capable of charge generation and charge transport. In particular, the organic photoresponsive layer contains an electron transport material such as a fluorenylidene malonitrile derivative and a hole transport material such as a dihydroxy tetraphenyl benzadine containing polymer. These may be complexed to provide photoresponsivity, and/or a photoresponsive pigment or dye may also be included.

摘要: An imaging apparatus comprises an imaging member, a means for generating an electrostatic latent image on the imaging member, a means for developing the latent image, an intermediate transfer element having a charge relaxation time from about 3.times.10.sup.-1 seconds to about 2.times.10.sup.2 seconds to which the developed image can be transferred from the imaging member, and a means for transferring the developed image from the intermediate transfer element to a substrate. Also disclosed is an imaging process which comprises generating an electrostatic latent image on an imaging member, developing the latent image, transferring the developed image to an intermediate transfer element having a change relaxation time from about 3.times.10.sup.-1 seconds to about 2.times.10.sup.2 seconds, which enables the transfer with very high transfer efficiency of the developed image from the intermediate transfer element to substrate.

摘要: A process is disclosed for forming at least one thin substantially uniform fluid coating comprising polymeric film forming material on a cylindrical mandrel, solidifying the fluid coating to form a uniform solid coating and separating the uniform solid coating from the mandrel. The process may comprise forming at least one thin substantially uniform fluid coating comprising polymeric film forming material around a cylindrical mandrel, the mandrel having a larger mass or lower thermal conductivity than the polymeric film forming material and a critical surface tension greater than the surface tension of the fluid coating, solidifying the fluid coating to form at least one thin substantially uniform solid coating comprising the polymeric film forming material around the cylindrical mandrel, heating both the uniform solid coating and the mandrel to a temperature at least above the apparent T.sub.g of the solid coating to expand the coating and the mandrel while maintaining contact between the coating and the mandrel, cooling the coating to below the apparent T.sub.g of the solid coating prior to substantial cooling of the mandrel, and cooling the mandrel whereby the mandrel contracts at a greater rate than the polymeric coating until separation occurs between the mandrel and the coating, and removing the coating from the mandrel.

摘要: Various systems, methods, and programs embodied in computer readable media are provided for calibration of at least one half-tone density in a printer. In one approach, a method is provided comprising the steps of acquiring a plurality of half-tone density values from a respective plurality of test patches generated on a belt in the printer over a period of time, each of the test patches embodying an intended half-tone density, generating a mathematically smoothed half-tone density value from the half-tone density values, and calibrating a half-tone density in the printer based upon the mathematically smoothed half-tone density value.

摘要: Xerographic printers may be provided with a photoreceptor belt manufactured so that transparent permanent optical registration marks are formed in defined selected minor areas of the belt without physically weakening the belt, as is the case with belt holes. These permanent registration marks are sufficiently transparent for a conventional belt holes sensor to optically detect them by illumination through those transparent areas of the photoreceptor. The photoreceptor is preferably a plural layer organic photoreceptor with an internal optically opaque metallic ground plane layer, and the optical registration marks are formed by oxidizing defined areas thereof. This may be accomplished by the simultaneous selective application of illumination to these selected minor areas of the photoreceptor, while adjacent areas of the photoreceptor are not illuminated, plus the application of electrical current from a voltage source applied through the belt in those areas.

摘要: A method involving a photoreceptor having a front surface and a rear surface, including: (a) creating an electrostatic latent image on an image area of the photoreceptor front surface; (b) developing the latent image with developer particles to form a developed image; (c) transferring the developed image off the photoreceptor wherein the photoreceptor retains residual charges in the image area after the transferring of the developed image off the photoreceptor; and (d) discharging at least a portion of the residual charges in the image area, after transferring the developed image off the photoreceptor, by directing charge dissipation emissions at a portion of the image area and at a corresponding region on the photoreceptor rear surface directly opposite the image area portion.

摘要: A seamless intermediate transfer member has a reinforcing member in an endless configuration, a filler material such as a polymer and electrical property regulating material to regulate the electrical properties such as surface and bulk resistivity, dielectric constant and charge dissipation. The seamless intermediate transfer member also has good mechanical properties. The reinforcing member can be prepared by any suitable method such as by weaving. Filler material and electrical regulating material can be applied on, around or embedded into the reinforcing member. The member can be employed in an electrostatographic imaging system with more than one toner imaging station. The member can pick up a separate image from each individual imaging station and transfer the combined image to a suitable substrate. The seamless intermediate transfer member is capable of dissipating charge between toner imaging stations, achieving good transfer efficiencies and has a non-stretch characteristic to attain good registration of a toner image.

摘要: A copier/printer having a transfer station for transferring images from an imaging member to copy sheets includes the improvement of removing debris from the surfaces of copy sheets facing the imaging member before the copy sheets reach the transfer station. At least a pair of cooperating rolls are positioned to form a nip for driving the copy sheets therebetween toward the transfer station. The cooperating rolls include a drive roll and a dielectric roll with the dielectric roll being electrostatically charged by the drive roll and paper through contact and separation during the intercopy gaps between copy sheets in transit to the transfer station through contact with the copy sheets to electrostatically attract debris from the copy sheets.
