    摘要: Methods, systems, and computer program products for MLU replication, storage, and retrieval in a RAID environment are disclosed. According to one method, a data storage extent pool representing a portion of a RAID array is provisioned. A replica vault including a second data storage extent pool and representing a portion of a RAID array is provisioned. An MLU for allocating data storage extents from the data storage extent pool is created and, in response to a data write operation, a data storage extent from the data storage extent pool is allocated and data associated with the data write operation is stored in the data storage extent. The MLU is replicated to create a second MLU by allocating a second data storage extent in the second data storage extent pool in the replica vault and copying data stored in the data storage extent to the second data storage extent.

The crucible has, among other things, a crystal region for forming the crystal, an introduction region for receiving the material, and a removal region for removing a portion of the material. The crucible is configured to produce a generally one directional flow of the material (in liquid form) from the introduction region toward the removal region. This generally one directional flow causes the removal region to have a higher concentration of impurities than the introduction region.

Communication traffic streams are received and either passed or filtered by respective controllable filtering modules. The operation of the filtering modules is controlled on a per-module and thus a per-stream basis, responsive to congestion of filtered communication traffic streams at a communication traffic processing element to which the filtering modules are connected. Per-stream filtering provides traffic control for each communication traffic stream, and maintains isolation between the streams. Statistics associated with communication traffic filtered out of each stream may be collected, and possibly aggregated.

    摘要: In one broad aspect, the invention provides a method of receiving instructions for an implement, for example, a drill string stabilizer, mounted on a drill string, which instructions are transmitted by varying the rate of flow of, or pressure exerted by, the fluid in the bore of the drill string in accordance with one of a plurality of predetermined sequences; the method comprising the steps of:a) monitoring variations in the rate of flow of, or pressure exerted by, the fluid in the drill string;b) comparing the sequence of monitored variations with a plurality of predetermined sequences, each predetermined sequence corresponding to a set of instructions for the implement; andc) eitheri) ignoring the variations if they do not correspond to a predetermined sequence, orii) if the variations do correspond to a predetermined sequence, executing the instructions which correspond to that sequence.In another broad aspect, the invention provides a drill string stabilizer comprising a mandrel, slidably mounted within an outer casing; one or more pads movable between a retracted position and one or more extended positions; means monitoring the rate of flow of, or pressure exerted by, the fluid in the drill string in use; and means which, when activated, seal the stabilizer to restrict or prevent the flow of fluid through it; the arrangement being such that, with the sealing means activated, the exertion of a predetermined amount of pressure by the fluid causes the mandrel to slide within the casing, and the pad or pads to consequently extend.

    摘要: Computer system resources shared by several central processing units are allocated by allowing one processing unit to temporarily gain exclusive access to a particular shared resource. Access to a particular resource is controlled by a memory location which contains information representing the current state of the resource and the identity of any processing element currently utilizing the resource. In the case where several resources are interchangeable, the memory location may also contain information regarding the busy/idle states of other interchangeable resources. The memory location can be interrogated by any of the processing elements via command and address information. If the contents of the memory location indicate that the associated resource is not in use, then the interrogating processing element immediately obtains control of the resource. If the resource is in use, the identity of the processing element currently using the resource and any stored resource state information is returned to the interrogating processing element which can then continue processing without the resource or choose another idle resource.
